This assignment is located within U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Operations Support (OS), CBP Watch, Incident Management Branch.

Responsibilities
The EOC Specialist will support the CBP Watch's mission to provide vital services to CBP through incident and event management, including planning, response, and recovery activities. The Incident Management Branch proactively establishes disciplined organizational structures and coordinated procedures for the management of all types of incidents and events that range from those that are adequately handled with local assets, to those of scaled proportion that require capabilities from across the CBP enterprise.
This position serves as a Specialist and will provide support to the CBP Headquarters EOC. Employees selected for this temporary assignment will perform the following duties, but are not limited to:

Qualifications
Qualifications required:Knowledge of Federal Emergency Management and Continuity laws, directives, and guidance, and ability to interpret and implement guidance regarding risk assessments; Extensive communication skills in writing a variety of documents and reports; oral skills to foster collaborative working relationships with EOC staff and other stakeholder to proactively meet goals and objectives; Experience with managing resources, and ability to review and assess plans and guidance; Knowledge of, or willingness to, learn processes and concepts related to emergency management (that is, National Incident Management System - NIMS); Completion of the following free, online courses for Independent Study (IS): IS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System, IS-200: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, IS-700: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System, and IS-800: National Response Framework. Courses available through FEMA. Self-driven and motivated.

Selected applicants for a JDA are requested to fulfill the items below during the JDA:Complete the DHS Training Course 15 days prior to the arrival to the JDA. Complete the DHS Joint Duty Assignment Progress Plan to include: Complete 12 hours of professional development using Skillsoft courses, videos, and books in conjunction with the established assignment objectives for the JDA. Attend each of the DHS Joint Duty Program Director's quarterly webinars (1 hour per quarter).

- Develop courses of action necessary for successful CBP response and recovery efforts, leveraging all available resources. Coordinate
- CBP's involvement to manage and mitigate impacts to the enterprise by directing resources and meeting the increased demands of a pending or actual incident or event with significant effects on operations.
- Assist in providing situational awareness and/or reporting on the impact to operations, infrastructure, and personnel during an incident or event.
- Support the implementation of plans, processes, and procedures related to a specific incident or situation.
