This is a hybrid position with a combination of on-site and remote work. This position willsupport MedStarlocations in Washington, DC with a focus on oncology. Job Summary Oversees design, implementation, and maintenance of administrative, financial or clinical applications. Serves as primary point of contact for providers medical informatics needs. Provides ongoing provider support for clinical systems and tools. Coaches customers and IS management on product use and direction. Minimum Qualifications Education/Training Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience. Experience 3 years desired of technical experience in a healthcare or business environment preferred. Experience in systems analysis/programming, customer service, vendor information, information systems, and/or project management. Oncology background preferred. License/Certification/Registration No special certification, registration or licensure is required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent written and verbal communication/interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate with management, medical staff and employees at all levels within the organization, using a customer-focused approach to gain information to improve the services offered by the Information Systems department. Strong analytical ability to solve complex technical problems. Competent in desktop applications, project management, and communication. Understanding of information systems and their impact to customers. Troubleshooting skills to find solutions to difficult human, clinical or administrative problems; highly developed interpersonal skills; Diplomacy and tact. Appropriately assertive; Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Excel. Must have demonstrated ability to work independently. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Actively participates in new provider on-boarding training. Functions as mentor when leading and/or supporting project activities. Advocates for all physicians (employed and community) to identify, correct or remove challenges that prevent the ability to provide, access or review clinical data to serve their patient's needs. Assesses current processes and tools and collects provider feedback; identifies points of integration and weakness; makes recommendations for improvement, where applicable. Assists with development of ad hoc and standard reports using system report writer or other tools to meet customer needs. Collaborates with nursing, pharmacy, lab, and radiology counterparts in the areas of planning, development, preparation and implementation of clinical information systems. Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. Coordinates and conducts the testing of software updates/fixes and routine maintenance. Validates that systems operate and perform properly through controlled unit, system, integration, and volume testing. Coordinates and manages vendor resources in the implementation of new software, and/or application upgrades and enhancements. Demonstrates ability to align presentation tools with audience to ensure and enhance effective communication. Actively participates in and/or manages meetings, committees, and/or multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams in support of department activities. Exhibits extensive experience in the current technology, trends and developments in the healthcare industry in order to serve as a resource for the IS department and customers. Facilitates improvements, enhancements, updates and modifications to applications. Responsible for executing project tasks including development of project work plans, resource plans, schedules, costs, administrative reports, and acceptance criteria. Manages problem analysis in support of decisions and planning within the application service line. Analyzes the impact of application modules on departments. Develops solutions to meet project objectives. Coordinates vendors, Information Services associates, and users in troubleshooting problems and resolving software or procedural issues. Manages resources and problem resolution. Participates as necessary in ensuring the integrity and availability of information through proper testing and validation of components and modules of the EMR. Performs other duties as assigned. Plans the development and execution of educator/trainer courses of core system/application functionality. Provides facilitation and coordination of training plans. Provides advanced support to customers within and beyond the corporate organization in the implementation and operational use of software applications. Actively coordinates/facilitates successful resolution to user issues, problems and requests. Conversant regarding service line trends, issues and initiatives. Serves as liaison between application and technical IS groups, and user community. Responsible for aspects of planning, development, implementation and managing special projects whether application, technical or education in nature. Responsible for the development or oversight of the processes, educational tools, and guidelines for a clinical systems project to be successful. Works with MedStar Corporate Information Services, MMG leadership, and cross-organizational teams on the implementation and evaluation of clinical systems. Serves as a liaison between MedStar Medical Group, hospital-based teams and MedStar Corporate Information Services team for provider implementation and support.
