WATER PRACTICE Michael Baker International's Water Group provides innovative consulting, planning and engineering solutions for the entire spectrum of the water cycle. We have proven experience in providing a full range of professional services from scientific and technical analysis, concept through design, and construction support services. Protection and management of water resources starts at the watershed level and follows the movement of water through urban and agricultural areas, streams, lakes and reservoirs, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and water/wastewater treatment plants. DESCRIPTION Our Surface Water team is seeking an individual who can quickly move into the role of Deputy Project Manager (DPM) on multiple projects with the aim of growing into a Project Manager role. The ideal candidate will have an aptitude for leadership, a strong sense of ownership, and natural communication skills. (S)He will work closely with existing Project Managers to oversee project staff and deliver projects per agreed to plan, budget, program and quality. (S)He will lead, assign, and review work of the project delivery team; provide technical direction to staff; check work and progress and identify changes of scope and additional services. The successful candidate will grow their internal and external networking skills with an aim to cultivate and maintain long-term client relationships as well as assisting in proposal development and strategic planning, with movement toward being a visible and active member of the Surface Water community through professional organization involvement. The Water Resources DPM will guide and co-manage projects in the following disciplines: stream channel restoration design, ecosystem restoration, watershed assessments, watershed planning studies, water supply planning, storm water/drainage way master plans, storm drainage design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, floodplain mapping studies, and flood control. Activities include: *Gradual exposure alongside of Project Managers to develop and maintain trusted adviser relationships with key clients. *Contribute to technical direction internally and involvement in professional associations and conferences. *Assist our Colorado Surface Water Managers in implementing targeted client service action plans. *Continued responsibility in project execution, leading project teams and staff across multiple offices. *Review project financials, trend analysis, earned value, and determine corrective actions and efficiencies. *Lead community engagement and outreach efforts. *Participate in client meetings and follow through on assigned action items directly with clients and communities. *Create templates and shells for deliverables and oversee staff execution. *Perform quality reviews and technical checks of models, calculations, and reports. PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS *Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering *5-10 years of Surface Water experience with increasing levels of responsibility *Colorado Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain Colorado PE within 1 year *Proficient in HEC-RAS 1D/2D *Excellent written and verbal communication skills, public speaking ability, and problem-solving skills *Strong attention to detail. Ownership and accountability for quality deliverables *The capability to work in a dynamic environment and conduct multi-tasking efforts *The longer-term drive to be a leader in the company and in the professional community PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS *Knowledge of regulatory issues and key players in the Colorado surface water market. *Track record of leadership roles in executing projects and overseeing successful project delivery of a diversity of storm water projects for City, County and State agencies *Demonstrated mentoring skills *Strong proposal writing and presentation skills *Entrepreneurial spirit to grow our Colorado Storm Water practice *Strong engineering judgment with strong background in Surface Water MICHAEL BAKER INTERNATIONAL EEO STATEMENT Michael Baker International is proud to be an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
