"George Mason University Department of Information Sciences and Technology Multiple Open Rank Non-Tenure-Track Faculty Positions Starting Fall 2021

The George Mason University Department of Information Sciences and Technology (IST), within the Volgenau School of Engineering, invites applications for multiple open rank, renewable-term, non-tenure-track positions beginning Fall 2021. Senior candidates with established records of outstanding teaching and service to profession will be considered at ranks of Associate Professor or Professor. Responsibilities The candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses, developing and coordinating courses, managing adjunct faculty and graduate teaching assistants, participating in student advising, and performing other professional duties, and satisfying teaching and service requirements consistent with departmental policies. Collaborations within and beyond Mason, or as part of initiatives and cooperative ventures are encouraged.

Required Qualifications Applicants for Assistant or Associate Professor positions must have earned a PhD in Information Sciences, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field by the start date of the position. Candidates for Instructor positions must have earned a MS in one of the fields listed above by the start date of the position. Applicants should possess a strong commitment to and demonstrated excellence in teaching.

Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates with experience and/or ability to teach courses in at least one of the areas of databases, cyber/information security, operating systems, programming, and senior design capstone. Practical experience in these areas is highly desired.

About the Department The position will be housed in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology. The department has 28 full-time faculty members. In addition to BS and MS programs in Information Technology, the department also participates in an interdisciplinary BS in Cyber Security Engineering, MS in Data Analytics Engineering, and offers an Information Technology concentration in the School-wide PhD program in Information Technology.
