George Mason University, Department of Cyber Security Engineering Multiple Open Rank Non-Tenure-Track Faculty Positions

The George Mason University Department of Cyber Security Engineering, within the Volgenau School of Engineering, invites applications for multiple open rank, renewable-term, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor and Instructor positions beginning Fall 2021. Responsibilities Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses as well as service duties associated with the department's undergraduate degree programs. Collaborations within and beyond Mason, or as part of initiatives and cooperative ventures are encouraged.

Required Qualifications Applicants for Assistant Professor positions must have received a PhD in Engineering, Computing or a related field by the start date of the position. Applicants who have received a MS in Engineering, Computing or a related field by the start date of the position will be considered for Instructor positions. Applicants should possess a strong commitment to and demonstrated excellence in teaching.

Preferred Qualifications Applicants in all areas of application oriented cyber security will be given serious consideration. We are particularly interested in candidates in the areas of cyber physical and autonomous systems. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience. Administrative and/or managerial experience is a plus.

About the Department Established in 2019, the Department of Cyber Security Engineering (first of its kind) is focused on academics and research for the cyber security engineering of integrated cyber-physical systems. The mission of the department is to develop proactive approach in engineering design of physical systems with cyber security incorporated from the beginning to the end of the system development lifecycle. Cyber security engineering is an important quantitative methodology to be used in all industries including, but not limited to, transportation, energy, healthcare, infrastructure, finance, government (federal, state, and local), manufacturing and defense.

The department prepares students with a foundation in cyber security engineering and is most appropriate for students with a strong mathematics, science and computing background. Accordingly, the department is dedicated to creating a premier body of faculty open to applying diverse engineering scientific methods in providing well engineered resilient systems.

Mason Engineering: The Future of Engineering is Here The Volgenau School of Engineering at George Mason University is a fast-growing force for innovation in research and education. The school boasts more than 8,600 students in 37 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degree programs, including several first-in-the-nation offerings. Of the 250 full-time faculty who comprise the School, 90 are tenured, 50 are tenure-track, 85 are instructional faculty, and 25 are research faculty.
