ORGANIZATION The Fulbright Association (FA) is the American alumni organization of the Fulbright Program with a mission to continue and extend the Fulbright tradition of education, advocacy, and service. For 75 years, "Fulbrighters" have traveled to 165 countries to teach, research, and engage in ways that promote peace and understanding. This mission has become even more essential in world torn by pandemic, conflict, and tribalism. When they return from overseas, Fulbrighters join the FA continue their commitment to global connections and personal diplomacy through many programs offered nationally and locally through a network of 54 chapters nationwide. Those programs include an annual conference, community outreach and education, an international webinar series, service travel, TEDxFulbright, and advocacy for Fulbright on Capitol Hill. The FA also awards the prestigious Fulbright Prize to world leaders such as Angela Merkel, Nelson Mandela, Bill and Melinda Gates, and Jimmy Carter. The FA is a small non-profit, founded in 1977 and located in Washington, DC. It has a team of six full-time professionals, a supportive Board of Directors, and a national network of dedicated volunteers. More information can be found at www.fulbright.org . This escalating position plays a critical role in continuing philanthropy efforts at the beginning of an exciting strategic plan that calls for stronger investments in outreach to under-represented communities, more inclusive activities and activism, wider engagement with the diverse Fulbright community, and further development of innovative digital programs. The Executive Director and the Board of Directors are fully committed to supporting your success. POSITION The Fulbright Association searches for a fundraising professional who envisions a multi-year commitment to helping the Association continue its success in raising funds to power its mission and programs. To attract and retain such a committed professional, the Association offers a strong package of benefits, creating a development career trajectory of growing responsibilities and skills. Subject to performance reviews, this position will enjoy regular promotions-from assistant director to associate director to director-as well as rapid salary growth and annual bonuses that reward your continued tenure and fundraising success. In addition to a suite of benefits-medical, dental and disability insurance, paid annual leave, and a matching retirement plan-this position will receive ongoing training and professional growth opportunities. The annual salary range is $60,000-70,000, depending on experience and salary history. This position reports to and works closely with the Executive Director. She/he/they will work collaboratively with other staff members and volunteers on related projects, such as in securing event sponsorships, and will support the Association's Board of Directors. The position is full-time-the only one focused primarily on philanthropy-and preferably based at the Washington, DC offices of the FA. Work is flexible at the FA, currently done remotely. As conditions allow, work will be partly in-person, with flexible remote options. We will consider applications from exceptional candidates, based outside of Washington, who wish to work remotely, provided they regularly can attend important events and meetings. This position is a great fit for a hard-working and entrepreneurial fundraiser who is strongly dedicated to the Fulbright mission, committed to developing skills and deepening donor relationships, and eager to joining a dedicated and friendly team of professionals and volunteers. The Association looks forward to your prompt application. RESPONSIBILITIES Sets and executes fundraising strategy, in consultation with the Executive Director. Researches and executes grant applications to fund key programs, such as Fulbright in the Classroom. Secures sponsorships for national events in the collaboration with the Director for National Events. Identifies and writes alumni profiles that highlight engagement, leadership, and donations, in collaboration with the Associate Director for Communications and Data. Contributes, as needed and when assigned, to other projects such as the annual conference and campaigns for membership.
