The Engineering Environment Development & Support (EEDS) organization is seeking a Multidisciplinary Tools Support Engineer to join our team of talented and diverse group dedicated to support and innovate in the area of Computer Aided Design & Engineering (CAD/CAE). This position is located in Linthicum, MD, and can be hired as a Principal (T03) or Sr. Principal Engineer (T04), depending upon the individuals experience and education. The Multidisciplinary Tools Support Engineer will be involved in multidisciplinary research and collaborate with design and/or product line engineers in the design, development, and utilization of software to model a representation of components, modules, or complete products for various applications. The candidate should be self-motivated and detail-oriented with experience working with Mechanical and Electrical CAD simulation and analysis tools. Responsibilities include:A cents € cents Determine user needs and advise on characteristics that affect software systems such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirementsA cents € cents Research and collaborate with engineers in the utilization of mechanical/electrical product and process simulation software to simulate the characteristics and parameters of products under operating environmentA cents € cents Research capabilities of different tool suites and make recommendationsA cents € cents Provide technical support to application users, working with subject matter experts as neededA cents € cents Perform tool interoperability and integration testingA cents € cents Perform client/network installation and configuration of applicationsA cents € cents Design and develop utility programs and scripts for automation and deploymentA cents € cents Prepare user instructions and document processesA cents € cents Provide basic applications and workflow training to users as neededA cents € cents Support Sector/Corporate Digital Transformation initiatives/goalsBasic Qualifications for a Principal (T03 Level) A cents € cents Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience; 3 years with a Master's degreeA cents € cents Fundamental understanding of mechanics for structural, thermal and CFD analysisA cents € cents Experience with CAD systems like NX, SolidWorks or Creo to create 3D modelsA cents € cents Experience with any, and/or all of these 3D Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools for structural, thermal and CFD analysis, including (but not limited to): o ANSYS Mechanical o ANSYS Fluent o ANSYS Icepak o Autodesk CFD o STAR-CCM+ o CFD++ o Simcenter 3D Structural/Thermal o Hypermesh/Abaqus o Patran/Nastran o TeamcenterA cents € cents Demonstrated understanding of electronics for schematics reviewsA cents € cents Proven experience working in Linux environmentA cents € cents Computer skills, including writing batch files and Linux shell scripts; familiarity with registry and environment variablesBasic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal (T04 Level) requires the demonstrated experience above, and at least 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 7 years of experience with a Master's degree.
