The George Mason University Office of Faculty Affairs and Development invites applications for a Program Assistant as we engage in the planning, implementation, maintenance, and assessment phases of widespread adoption of Interfolio, alongside other initiatives. About Faculty Affairs and Development: The Office of Faculty Affairs and Development at George Mason University provides an intentional, inclusive, and integrated approach to supporting faculty excellence. As Mason has matured as a multifaceted public research university, there is an increased need to promote faculty expertise to prospective students, various university stakeholders, and the broader community. Equally important, we seek to leverage faculty strengths across the institution, facilitate faculty collaboration and partnerships, and tell the stories of our talented faculty.

The Office of Faculty Affairs and Development is responsible for all matters pertaining to Mason faculty's professional well-being and development, such as assisting with faculty career development, recognizing faculty excellence, cultivating academic leadership, and implementing policies and practices that support faculty at Mason. This office is committed to developing an enriching and collaborative environment in which faculty members are supported to grow intellectually and professionally.

We expect this position to be 20-25 hours weekly. The hourly wage will be commensurate with education and experience.

Responsibilities: The Program Assistant supports Faculty Affairs initiatives with a special emphasis on the launch and operationalization of our Faculty Activity and Collaboration Tools (FACTs) initiative. Primary responsibilities include assistance with scheduling, compiling supplies/materials and supporting in-person and virtual events, updating website content and FACTs platforms. Some additional office work related to meeting minutes, drafting event fliers, web research and communications may be involved; other professional development opportunities and projects will be dependent on the skills of the candidate.

As these initiatives support Mason faculty, academic programs, and administrative team needs, the Program Assistant will work with diverse campus stakeholders to ensure the highest levels of customer support. Duties include: * Developing project plans that adhere to timelines and requirements, facilitating continuity and transparent and clear communication to all stakeholders; * Maintaining consistent and accurate status information, data, and documentation of program support; * Assisting with training opportunities across various platforms for multiple end users, managing event registration and survey results; * Coordinating and providing oversight for student workers; * Performing editorial functions, as needed, to update FACTs platforms; * Drafting materials for events, working group sessions and updating Faculty Affairs and Development website; * Supporting Faculty Affairs and Development leadership and staff and Mason FACTs Leadership teams with scheduling, meeting agendas and minutes; * Triaging department email for Mason FACTs; * Identifying opportunities for continuous program improvement.

Required Qualifications: * Superior written and verbal communication skills for multiple audiences; * Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds; * Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills to manage tasks that require attention to detail while keeping the larger project scope in mind; * Demonstrated ability to think critically, problem solve and work independently; * Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Forms); * High School Diploma.

Preferred Qualifications: * Familiarity with Canva and/or other online design and publishing tools; * Familiarity with Blackboard; * Experience in higher education and/or fast paced environment; * Bachelor's Degree preferred.
