Within CISA, the Cybersecurity Division leads cybersecurity efforts for CISA as the Nation's flagship civilian cyber defense organization. The division collaborates with partners across the government and private sector to enhance the Nation's cybersecurity by sharing information, providing cybersecurity services and technical assistance, as well as education and awareness efforts.

In this position, you will serve as an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC). Typical work assignments include:
  • Identify and evaluate threat critical capabilities, requirements, and vulnerabilities.
  • Produce timely, fused, all-source cyber operations intelligence and/or indications and warnings intelligence products(e.g. threat assessments, briefings, intelligence studies, country studies).
  • Contribute to crisis action planning for cyber operations with other team members.
  • Perform complex event correlation using information gathered from a variety of sources within the enterprise to gain situational awareness and determine the effectiveness of an observed attack.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-13 grade level (starting salary $103,690.00) if you possess information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies:
  • Attention to Detail: Monitoring all phases of IT systems security to ensure compliance of security measures.
  • Customer Service: Evaluating cybersecurity system requirements to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Oral Communication: Providing advice to IT stakeholders on IT projects and/or programs.
  • Problem Solving: Identifying and recommending solutions to fix cybersecurity problem areas.
  • In addition to the above requirement you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level performing the following duties:
    • Developing and implementing systems security contingency plans to address and minimize information systems vulnerabilities;
    • Analyzing possible cybersecurity risks in order to recommend solutions and system updates;
    • Providing technical support to enterprise-wide cyber defense technicians to resolve cyber incidents; and
    • Collaborating with internal and external analysts to ensure IT systems are in compliance with security policies and directives.
    National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
