Summary

This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. As a Deputy for Presidential Libraries, you will serve as the Director of the Office for Presidential Libraries and you will be responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and administering the Presidential Library system.

Responsibilities

As a Deputy for Presidential Libraries, you will:
- Formulate basic policies, procedures, and guides for the administration and management of the Presidential library system.
- Plan for the development and establishment of proposed libraries for present and future Presidents in close coordination with the White House and other interested parties.
- Initiate contacts with colleges, universities, historical societies and other professional associations to stay aware of their needs and foster their interest in the use of Presidential libraries' holdings as source materials.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service . One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.   • Must complete a 1-year SES probationary period, unless previously completed.
  • Must complete a Questionnaire for Sensitive Positions, SF-86, for a pre-appointment full-field background investigation. In addition, periodic re-investigation is required no later than five years after selection and at least every succeeding five years.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.

    Qualifications

    Mandatory Qualifications Requirements: To meet minimum qualifications, applicants must possess the following technical and executive core competencies. These competencies would typically be gained through experience, education, and training that reflects progressive development and achievement in managing a Federal legal program for a nationwide organization or equivalent in the private sector. An individual's total experience and education must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.

    A. TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (TQs)

    All applicants must address how their knowledge, experience, and abilities relate to the following TQs. PLEASE LIMIT YOUR RESPONSE TO ONE (1) SINGLE SPACED PAGE PER TQ WITH THE FONT SIZE NO SMALLER THAN POINT 12.
    TQ 1: Demonstrated ability to collaborate with leaders of the academic community, the historical, cultural, and archival professions, and with key government officials to build partnerships to advance the programs and mission of an institution.

    TQ 2: Demonstrated experience as a senior manager in applying the principles, concepts, practices, and methods of program management in areas such as archival administration or museum operations.
    B. EXECUTIVE CORE QUALIFICATIONS (ECQs)

    Education

    Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR)

    A. Bachelor's degree in archival science or bachelor's degree with a major that includes 18 semester hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours in one or any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government.

    B. Combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours that included courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
