Summary

About the Position: Serves as Information Management Officer (IMO) for the Fort Belvoir Garrison
Commander. Works under the supervision of the Deputy to the Garrison Commander. As a subject matter expert independently determines work required to accomplish the mission of the office and plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the work for effective results.

Responsibilities

  • Research and studies reports and technical journals to determine and keep abreast of state-of-the-art information systems technology and trends which influence revision or development of new automation techniques.
  • Make work assignments based on workload, priorities, and capabilities and provides instructions concerning regulations and procedures to be followed to subordinate Information Management Specialists in the IMO office.
  • Serve as supervisor to 3 GS employees with a 25% base level of GS-09 and 3 contractors.
  • Work closely with functional proponents and contractors to make sure customers are satisfied with the contractor?s performance on each task and that there are no outstanding technical or contractual issues that need to be resolved.
  • Coordinate Command, Control, Communications, and Computers, and Information Management (C4IM) requirements with the supporting Regional Network Enterprise Center (RNEC).

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural/man-made disaster) incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • Incumbent may be required to use cellular telephone and maintain a working home internet.
  • Must be able to obtain Contracting Officer Representative (COR) certification within six months of being assigned to the position and maintain proficiency requirements.

Information Technology related experience which demonstrates possessing each of the four competencies necessary to perform Information Technology Manager work at the GS-13 grade level or equivalent in the Federal Service.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
