Summary

The incumbent serves as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic responsible for installing, recognizing the cause of faulty equipment, and repairing, modifying and relocating equipment on various special-purpose air conditioning and heating units and/or systems that are frequently modified to provide specific and critical climatic conditions occurring in the Main Treasury and Treasury Annex Buildings.

Responsibilities

As an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic, you will:
  • Install, operate, maintain, and repair special-purpose refrigeration and air conditioning components and systems and boiler heating components and systems
  • Inspect equipment to detect worn or damaged parts, test for refrigerant leaks and proper functioning of controls, and proper operation of heating and air conditioning
  • Observe and test for proper operation of refrigerant cycle for cooling, and diagnoses, tests and locates malfunctions on all types of heating and complex air conditioning equipment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
The work requires extensive walking and bending, climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 pounds, working in overhead or in tight areas, and frequently stooping, stretching, kneeling and reaching. Work requires visits to construction sites, machine rooms, and grounds.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service . One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
