Summary

This position is located in the Office of Risk Management and Internal Controls (ORMIC). ORMIC is responsible for performing risk management, audit coordination, and process improvement activities throughout the Corporation and ensuring that the FDIC has a strong, effective Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program and internal control program.

Responsibilities

- Assists in ORMIC efforts to identify Corporate risks and mitigations by performing research and reviewing risk management documentation. Helps to maintain the FDIC's risk appetite, risk tolerances, ERM Risk Inventory and ERM Risk Profile.

- Participates in reviews and program evaluations of the Corporation's operations. Reports on review results and recommends solutions and improvements. May assist with internal reviews of division and office operations to develop a first-hand knowledge and understanding of their programs.

- Analyzes and presents broad and sometimes highly technical corporate program information.

- Assesses division and office internal controls and works with internal review units to maintain effective internal controls.

- Performs audit coordination between FDIC's Divisions/Offices and the OIG, GAO, or other third party auditors for audits and evaluations of FDIC operations. Maintains awareness of audit status and potential finding areas. Assists with auditor information requests and management responses. Reviews and analyzes audit findings and results and works to ensure appropriate management action is taken.

- Participates in process improvement activities to include process mapping, benchmarking, business process engineering, organizational analysis, data analysis, and dashboard development.

- Assesses risks associated with complex information technology (IT) or non-IT projects.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG/GS-12 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience performing agency-wide risk assessments, program evaluations and internal reviews which identify Enterprise Risk Management and internal control issues; and performing research and providing recommended solutions and improvements.
