Responsibilities

DUTY 1
Executes Air Force efforts to identify and secure task critical assets.

DUTY 2
In a Career Broadening capacity, serves as technical subject matter expert consultant and represents the Chief, Mission Assurance Integration and Synchronization Branch in matters relating to civil engineering and installation support.

DUTY 3
Performs Career Broadening assignments involving integrated planning and organizing and participates in the Pre-site Survey/visits for mission assurance assessments to validate asset data, determine criticality, and obtain information as necessary to help integrate and synchronize the MARPAs.

DUTY 4
As a Career Broadener, exercises independent judgement to apply technical expertise performing a broad range of highly complex and controversial qualitative and quantitative analyses of programs and policies which have major impact on the AF and DoD Mission Assurance Process.

  • Career Broadening positions are managed by AFPC/DP2Z and are centrally funded.
  • Positions are established specifically to provide developmental experience designed to broaden the skills and/or enhance the leadership perspective of a high-potential, mid-level manager.
  • Career Broadening also provides training and developmental opportunities at various organizational levels.
  • These assignments offer the qualified candidate a unique assignment in that the candidates brings certain experience to the assignment while gaining new experiences in a different work environment
  • TEMPORARY PROMOTION: If the position is filled as a temporary promotion, upon completion of the career broadening assignment, the temporary promotion may lead to permanent promotion without further competition
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random drug testing for drug use.
  • Position may require frequent travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • The employee may be required to work non-standard duty shifts.
  • Shift work and emergency overtime may be required
  • The employee may be recalled to duty.
  • This position meets the administrative exemption criteria for the Fair Labor Standards Act (5 CFR 551.206).


Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, the specialized experience must have been at the GS-13 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-13 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Comprehensive understanding of the Civil Engineering and Installation Support processes and programs and a working knowledge of the Air Force DoD Mission Assurance construct along with the ability to analyze, articulate and advocated for oversight initiatives in support of integration and synchronization mission objectives.
2. In-depth ability to apply a wide range of Installation Management specialties, concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices to independently manage assigned program areas.
3. Comprehensive understanding of organizational structure, roles and relationships that exist between the Joint Staff, the Air Staff, the Combatant command, the component commanders, the AF MAJCOMs, AFIMSC, and installations in conducting Joint and AF planning.
4. Knowledge of military service program goals and objectives, the planning and execution of military operations and exercises, sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones, and methods of assessing/evaluating the effectiveness of planning actions as related to actual events.
5. Ability to gather, assemble, and analyze facts, draw conclusions, conduct analysis, devise recommended solutions, plan, organize and package the entire process in briefings, papers, or reports suitable for top management use and decision-making.
6. Possesses highly effective oral and written communication skills in order to conduct briefings, analyze, prepare and review correspondence and training documents, and present sensitive and sometimes controversial material and recommendations to higher authority and other Government agencies.

PCS restrictions: An employee selected to make a PCS to a Career Broadening assignment is restricted from making a second PCS for 12 months

Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours to provide direct support to leadership, conferences, or special initiatives.

Employee must obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET/SPECIAL COMPARTMENTED INFORMATION (TS/SCI) security clearance as a condition of employment.

Employee may be required to travel TDY to perform assigned duties on commercial or military aircraft.

Mobility is a condition of employment. Employee must sign AF-wide mobility agreement.
