Patent Secretary Our client is an intellectual property law firm located in Fairfax, VA, is seeking a patent secretary to support the attorney/agent as well as other staff members in the firm. A suitable match would be someone who can work independently to draft, revise and send out documents, and is proactive in providing assistance and support. Responsibilities will include: Drafting application data sheets, IDS, and other US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) forms. Drafting select reporting and reminder letters to our client. Researching and reviewing transcripts; performing cite-checking; and proofreading of all documents. Conducting legal research on USPTO website, including PAIR, Pacer, Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw and other legal industry resources. Finalizing, scanning, copying and sending out final documents via e-mail and/or regular mail Compiling and distributing weekly docket reports. Depending on prior experience, docketing certain types of USPTO and/or foreign patent office actions. Sending acknowledgements as requested and routing fax transmissions to intended recipient. Providing backup support to other staff during breaks and absences. Maintaining Calendars with deadlines and conference calls. Answering telephone, taking accurate messages, and transferring telephone calls. Must be able to operate standard office equipment including telephone system, computer/printer, photocopy/scanning machine, facsimile machine, postage meter. Process billings and payments for the firm.
