Horizon is looking for a highly motivated Research Associate or Associate Scientist to join the Analytical Sciences Department within Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC). The candidate will be responsible for supporting analytical characterization of clinical pipeline assets and help establish new lab operations and procedures. Key Responsibilities: * Work in a dynamic, matrix team to support analytical development, manufacturing process development, formulation development, and tech transfer. * Working aseptically and maintaining mammalian cell cultures. * Utilize molecular biology techniques to assist in bioassay development capabilities. Perform routine ELISA and cell-based bioassay testing to support product and process characterizations. * Plan and execute experiments and troubleshoot technical problems. * Set up new lab and procedures, order lab supplies, take shipments, and help maintain lab inventories. * Aid analytical method development, optimization, and qualification. * Perform data management tasks including data analysis; generating experimental protocols and documentation; reporting results within the department and at the cross-functional level. Ability to conduct initial troubleshooting analysis. Qualifications and Skills Required: * Education requirement: BS or MS degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related life sciences field. * Research Associate: BS or MS with 0-1 year of work experience. The candidate may have a degree in an alternative field with 2+ years research experience in a laboratory. * Associate Scientist: BS or MS with 2+ years of work experience. * Experience working aseptically and maintaining mammalian cell cultures is essential. * Demonstrated ability in creative problem solving and application of scientific principles. * Attention to detail, self-motivated, and ability to set priorities. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Strong technical writing skills: preparation of protocols, reports, SOPs, etc. * Good multi-tasking, time management, and organizational skills are essential. * Previous lab experiences in R&D and QC environments are a plus, but not essential. * Experience in protein chemistry and purification is a plus.
