DescriptionAre you an analytical chemist passionate about applying your chemistry knowledge and expertise toward solving the country's toughest national security challenges? We are seeking an analytical chemist to join a diverse team of scientists in the in Applied Chemistry and Physics Group (QPC). You will be joining a hardworking team of scientists who are developing applied chemistry solutions in order to solve important problems for the US and its allies. We are passionate about the exploration of innovative concepts related to current and future challenges.As an Analytical Chemist Your primary responsibility will be to conduct rigorous, mission-focused analytical chemistry studies and assessments. You will perform research and develop analytical techniques to detect threat related chemicals. You will contribute to research and proposal activities by teaming with QPC colleagues to propose new ideas and concepts QualificationsYou meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you Possess a bachelor's degree in a STEM field Have at least one year of experience working with chromatographic, mass spectral or optical detection methods, developing analytical methods and performing data analysis Are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you Possess a bachelor's or master's degree in chemistry or a related technical field Have three or more years experience in developing analytical methods for detection of chemical threats Have experience working with gas chromatography mass spectrometry or high performance liquid chromatographyWhy work at APL?
