Being an IT/Engineering Director at Shockoe: We are looking for an experienced IT/Engineering Director to be hands on to lead, manage, mentor our engineering team, and build extremely efficient IT operations at Shockoe. This person will be a Customer-focused, highly organized self-starter with effective customer service skills and demonstrated ability to manage technical aspects and pre-sales projects, architect tailor-made customer solutions, build relationships, communicate solution strategy and product offerings, and provide technical expertise, support, and training to sales and customers. The IT/Engineering Director's responsibilities include managing employees within the engineering team, liaising with other departments to ascertain their technological requirements, and implementing solutions that align with our internal and client objectives. Success in the role requires an innovative mind, a proven track record of delivering next-generation Mobile and Web products, rigorous analytical skills, and a passion for creating market-leading software. This leader must have the ability to attract and recruit the industry's best talent, and simultaneously have the technical chops to ensure that we build compelling, customer-oriented solutions in an iterative methodology. Responsibilities: Trusted technology advisor for our clients (Sell & Service) Manage the engineering team including performance, capability, and career development. Oversee technology delivery and code quality for client engagements Oversee technology operations, including DevOps, licensing, hardware, and software needs Understand the latest Mobile, Cloud, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Voice Technologies Work to modernize our existing tech stacks and mobile platforms Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into cloud environments, like AWS, and provide operational support for those applications Participate in the Product lifecycle process including scoping, designing, developing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-scale business applications Embrace and incubate emerging technology and open source products across all platforms Conduct design and code reviews to ensure compliance with standards Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required and a graduate degree preferred 8+ years of Mobile Technology experience, spanning people, process, and technology with an eye towards business transformation 8+ years of experience managing complex business relationships are preferred Possesses aptitude to identify strategic solutions to business problems with enterprise-wide implications Experience working with senior business partners and C-level clients identifying trends, communicating competitive actions, and presenting strategic implications in Technology for Ability to identify major technology trends in the Mobile Space and share a point of view with clients in support of sales pursuits Excellent communicator with the ability to communicate effectively along vertical and horizontal planes internally and in client organizations Experience creating thought leadership and white papers and presenting in this area of expertise is preferred If you read this and are concerned you don't check all the boxes, write to us anyway.
