Ref ID: 04510-0011728008 Classification: VP/Director of Finance Compensation: $70000.00 to $100000.00 yearly Growing mission-oriented, DC-based non-profit seeks Associate Director to serve as top accounting and finance professional! The Associate Director of Finance will be responsible for the organization's day-to-day accounting tasks of the organization. In addition, the Associate Director of Finance will also be charged with preparing financial reports and implementing new technology systems along with updating financial policies and procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Overall Financial Management and Systems Improvement * Analyze and present financial reports, as well as monthly and annual financial statements, and oversee all financial, program, and grants accounting * Oversee and lead the annual budgeting and planning process alongside the COO * Prepare 990 schedules required for the annual audit, and liaise with external auditors, consultants, and the finance and audit committees of the board of directors * Administer and review all financial plans and project budgets and prepare monthly budget versus actual reports * Keep senior leadership abreast of the organization's financial status * Update and implement all necessary accounting practices and business policies * Update the finance department manuals * Collaborate with senior leaders to align financial management with fundraising goals * Identify ways to improve and automate financial systems where possible Day-to-Day Accounting Operations * Provide monthly financial reporting, general ledger entries, and record payments and adjustments * Manage cash flow and forecasting * Complete bank recs and oversee credit card transactions * Enter accounts payable and receivable * Track grant spending and notify the leadership if grants are above or below estimated spend rates * Prepare and update fund balance spreadsheet * Reconcile payroll and benefit accounts monthly * Complete salary/benefit allocation entries * Track deferred revenue * Enter bank deposits * Allocate payroll, fringe benefits, and overhead to grants * Analyze costs of employee benefit plans * Complete monthly vacation accrual calculation and entry, rent and property tax reconciliation, and depreciation entries * Remit bimonthly 403(b) plan payments Qualified candidates should submit a Word version of their resume to Nick Warga, Director of Permanent Placement Services for review. Job Requirements: * 5+ years' experience in non-profit accounting, including with grant-funded nonprofit organizations * Extensive grant accounting experience * Knowledge of fund balance accounting * Deep understanding of cash flow management, bank reconciliation, and general bookkeeping practices * Strong Excel skills, including the ability to create Pivot Tables * Hands-on budgeting experience Education * Bachelor's degree with preference towards Masters degree and/or advanced financial certification or coursework Qualified candidates should submit a Word version of their resume to Nick Warga, Director of Permanent Placement Services for review.
