Apex Systems has an immediate contract-to-hire opportunity for a motivated Lab Technician with experience with filtration membranes and wet chemistry to join a leader in the convergence of polymer and protein-membrane technology in Gaithersburg, Maryland! This is a great opportunity for new graduates or junior-leveled Lab Technicians who majored in Chemistry or related fields. There is also a relocation package for out-of-state candidates! Title: Lab Technician II Location: Gaithersburg, MD Duration: Contract-to-hire (end goal is to convert this position to permanent) Pay Rates: W2 Only **please email if interested in pursuing this opportunity Job Overview: The Laboratory Technician II is responsible for the evaluation of membrane performance, assists various aspects of membrane research and development, including new formulation and membrane characterization. The Laboratory Technician will collaboratively work with the Scientists and other members to develop innovative filtration membranes for various applications. Responsibilities: Prepare necessary raw materials and samples, including mobile phase, feed solutions, buffer solutions, and scanning electron microscopy samples. Conduct polymeric membrane performance evaluation using a combination of techniques, including but not limited to high-performance liquid chromatography and UV-VIS. Analyze test data, log and report results and/or progress in a timely manner. Assist in test method development, maintain inventory of consumables, chemicals and supplies. Participate in the general upkeep and maintenance of the laboratory and equipment. Meet corporate and departmental goals. Other Duties and roles as assigned. Requirements: BS degree in chemistry with a minimum of two years of experience working in a research laboratory Experience with a wide range of analytical tools and techniques, incl: HPLC and UV-VIS Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, work short cycle times and flexible hours if required, and deliver results under pressure Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of quality of work Excellent written and verbal communication skills Detail-oriented and efficient, follow good laboratory practice (GLP) Additional Qualifications: Experience with filtration membranes and wet chemistry Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other software packages A natural curiosity and interest in new technology and groundbreaking scientific developments EEO EmployerApex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
