Undergraduate Programs Manager

The George Mason University's Schar School of Policy and Government invites applications for an Undergraduate Programs Manager. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.

Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of the Undergraduate Programs Manager is to build supportive and inclusive communities of undergraduate students and faculty within the Schar School. Three faculty-led academic communities are in place for Fall 2021, each with an associated credit-bearing class, topical presentations by experts, biweekly coffee house-style conversations, and DC-area field trips. The Undergraduate Programs Manager will work closely with the three faculty directors, as well as the Director of Student Engagement to run these communities and seek out opportunities for additional communities in the future. This is an exciting new initiative for the Schar School. The Undergraduate Programs Manager will take the lead in generating interest and enthusiasm, not just among prospective students, but within and beyond the Mason community.

The Undergraduate Programs Manager will build a sense of belonging and Schar School communal identity by creating avenues for Mason and Schar School students to connect and get to know one another through Schar School learning communities programming. Additionally, the Undergraduate Programs Manager will provide students with opportunities to meet a variety of faculty at Mason and leaders in the Washington DC region and around the nation and world, and create programming that allows students to connect and build relationships with experts in their fields. The Undergraduate Programs Manager plays an important role in enhancing the Schar School's reputation in the broader fields of policy and government by increasing student engagement and retention, and by cultivating opportunities for skill-building, networking, and career pathways for students. This position will also help design academic and professional development activities that expand the students' sense of what is possible and what they can do post-graduation, and will work closely with the Schar Undergraduate Recruiter to develop a marketing plan to attract additional students to the Schar School.

Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required, preferably in government, politics, marketing, communications, business administration or related field; * Must be able to travel throughout Virginia, the DC-Metro region, and nationally for field trips, group tours, and recruitments events; * Experience cultivating and managing relationships with internal and external partners at various levels; * Demonstrated ability to balance multiple short- and long- term projects without direct supervision.

Preferred Qualifications: * Master's degree preferred; * Familiarity with Qualtrics; * Experience working in an experiential learning environment and collaborating on design and promotion of community engagement activities; * Experience in higher education; * Demonstrated ability to develop compelling presentations and promotional materials (brochures, course/training materials, web copy, marketing communications, PowerPoint presentations); * Familiarity with web-based information systems such as Banner, PatriotWeb, and 25Live; * Experience creating and running programs and activities supporting student retention and success.

"For full consideration, applicants must apply at https://jobs.gmu.edu/ ; complete and submit the online application; and upload a cover letter, resume, and a list of three professional references with contact information."
