About the Position: The Office of the Provost is seeking a Data Analyst to support the work within the Division for Enrollment Management, reporting to the Associate Director of Analytics and Decision Support.

This position is responsible for supporting the operational and planning functions of the Division for Enrollment Management by analyzing enrollment, admissions, recruitment, scholarship, financial aid, and academic data. Specifically, the position will be responsible for producing both quantitative and qualitative reporting; and will provide information analyses that relate to setting enrollment goals and objectives, recruitment strategy, institutional aid leveraging, marketing, and retention strategies to inform decision-making. Creating, monitoring, tracking and reporting appropriate metrics to inform and guide operational decisions and actions will be an important aspect of the Data Analyst's work.

In a teamwork fashion, the position will work collaboratively with representatives from other university offices to assist in the development of planning, analysis, and management information to support the enrollment management process at Mason.

The incumbent will be expected to compare data from several sources to ensure accuracy, while applying professional judgment and relying upon considerable knowledge of the subject material.

The successful candidate will have experience in predictive analyses, data mining, and the development of intelligent information for business use. Experience in pricing analysis and/or experience leveraging institutional aid to achieve enrollment outcomes is desirable.

Responsibilities: * Use institutional databases, purchased data from vendors, market research, and governmental data to provide insight into the student recruitment process through data mining and analysis; * Support the annual and long-term strategies to meet enrollment goals and leverage financial resources; * Perform market analysis and competitor analysis; * Use advanced research techniques to increase and assess the efficiency and effectiveness of targeted marketing efforts; * Create, monitor, track and report appropriate metrics on a weekly, monthly and/or ad hoc basis.

Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Public or Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required; * Data analysis, program evaluation, or research (three to five years preferred); * Extracting data from multiple sources, merging that data and finding and resolving inconsistencies (three to five years preferred); * Performing data quality analysis on datasets and reports (three to five years preferred); * BI visualization tools - such as MicroStrategy or Tableau to build customized dashboards for use by both internal and external clients (three to five years preferred); * SQL, SAS, Python, R or similar programing languages for querying data sources, performing the appropriate analysis and creating visualizations (three to five years preferred); * Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; * Exceptional quantitative skills and attention to detail; * Project management experience; * Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills; * Ability to communicate knowledge and ideas in a consultative matter to a variety of audiences including senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications: * Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience; * Experience in predictive modeling, forecasting and regression techniques; * Demonstrated knowledge of strategic and enrollment management/modeling principles, methods and practices; * Experience working with university administration; * Experience in interpersonal relations as they relate to interactions with various levels of university administrators; * Experience developing forecasting and tracking models that integrate a variety of statistical and financial information.
