Graduate Student Coordinator

The George Mason University, Office of the Provost invites applications for a part-time (up to 29 hours per week) Graduate Student Coordinator position to support the Office of Graduate Education within the Office of the Provost. About the Office of Graduate Education: The Office of Graduate Education supports Mason graduate programs and ensures the academic success of more than 10,800 graduate students while upholding the quality and rigor of graduate education at Mason. Our office, in conjunction with partners across all of our campuses, undertakes a myriad of functions to provide this support. These include facilitating curricular enhancements, administering graduate policies and procedures, and providing internal and external funding opportunities. As students join Mason's graduate programs, the office collaborates with Graduate Student Life, Career Services, and the Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning to provide a community of support and growth that enables them to develop the professional skills and relationships needed to thrive while at Mason, become prepared for their future career, and respond to market demands and needs.

Responsibilities: * Work directly with the Graduate Education Manager on all awards and health insurance-related assignments; * Process all graduate students' qualifying awards, grants, fellowships and scholarships, to include the processing of graduate assistantships, stipend, and tuition grants, as well as the preparation of offer letters; * Responsible for all communication related to all awards and health insurance matters; * Process all graduate students' health insurance subsidy, to include all processing, and running, updating and sharing eligibility reports; * Provide excellent customer service in a calm, professional manner to all key customer groups, including but not limited to: all offices' representatives, academic units' faculty and staff members, students and parents, all colleagues and co-workers, and outside callers who may represent state and local governments and/or governing bodies, or professors from other institutions of higher education; * Establish professional and reliable reputation with faculty and staff members, and others who may collaborate with the Graduate Education team.

Required Qualifications: * High school degree or higher by the time of hire; * Two or more years of related work experience; * Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; * Strong organizational skills and detailed-oriented; * Proficiency with computers including software systems and applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, Adobe); * Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment; * Strong desire to work with graduate students, faculty, and administrators from a wide range of disciplines and schools.

Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with higher education software platforms and processes like Banner, MicroStrategy, and Workflow; * Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills; * Five or more years of relevant work experience.
