AARP Foundation Experience Corps is an intergenerational volunteer-based tutoring program that is proven to help children who aren't reading at grade level become great readers by the end of third grade.

We inspire and empower adults age 50 and older to serve in their community and disrupt the cycle of poverty by making a lasting difference in the lives of America's most vulnerable children.

This position manages strategic partnerships and oversees community engagement efforts that support the Experience Corps program. Specifically, the Manager establishes priorities for, develops and oversees partnerships that support the growth of Experience Corps. The Manager serves as the liaison to Communications to ensure that the development, execution and measurement of all marketing communications activities support the goals of Experience Corps. This matrixed position includes managing and executing multiple projects across a variety of stakeholders. This position reports to the Vice President, Experience Corps.

Strategic Partnership Management
Provide strategic guidance and manage execution of a results oriented, integrated partnership plan for Experience Corps that aligns with program growth goals. Serve as strategy owner of the AARP Foundation Experience Corps partnership strategies, creating and implementing objectives and action plans.
Work collaboratively with EC management team members to finalize a comprehensive partnership strategy and set annual priorities for outreach.
Conduct research on potential partners that support the partnerships strategy and recommend priority relationships to the management team.
Update and maintain the partnership tracking document noting progress and contacts with partner conversations and the status of any partnership pilot initiatives.

Communications Liaison
Serve as a liaison to the Experience Corps network capturing and prioritizing communication request; collaborate with Strategic Communications to create resources that align with brand standards and meet local needs.
Serve as a liaison to Strategic Communications to help identify spokespersons, develop and review collateral and identify potential success stories for recruitment and promotional efforts.
Collaborate closely with Strategic Communications and External Relations to ensure a comprehensive suite of programmatic materials and promotional resources are updated regularly.
Serve as strategy owner of the AARP Foundation Experience Corps communications-related strategies, creating and implementing objectives and action plans.

Community Engagement
Develop and distribute all communications to the Network and to internal and external stakeholders.
Manage Experience Corps participation in large-scale external facing events, in collaboration with the Communications and Events team
Identify community engagement and/or other promotional opportunities to advance the program's growth goals at the national and local level

Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of progressively responsible experience in business development or a communications-related field

Experience working with multicultural (Hispanic, African American and/or Asian) and/or low-income communities is desired

Multilingual ability is desired

Proactive self-starter with the ability to meet multiple deadlines

Ability to work under pressure and perform duties in a fast paced deadline driven environment

Experienced multi-tasker with the ability to handle complex issues

Highly developed problem solving skills

Skilled written and oral communication ability

Experience handling complex issues

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to handle challenges in a diplomatic fashion
