Westat's research, technical, and administrative staff of more than 2,000 is located at our headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, near Washington, DC.

Westat is seeking a content specialist to assist in creating, tracking, and maintaining quality and consistency for staff resumes, project descriptions, and boilerplate text for use in proposals. The position requires a combination of writing, editing, user support and training, and records management tasks. 

This role is remote eligible.

Job Responsibilities:
• Work in partnership with Westat staff to develop corporate and proposal resumes that are tailored to specific opportunities and RFP requirements.
• Work with staff to target project descriptions for proposals and other corporate uses.
• Identify and assist in crafting appropriate boilerplate content; work with subject matter experts to obtain needed information.
• Conduct ongoing quality control and  coordinate regular updates of all proposal content (by making requested edits and applying consistent writing style standards).
• Process all content through a SharePoint-based library and create and maintain metadata.
• Assist with training new and existing users of systems to create and update content and provide day-to-day user support. 
• Serve as a resource on available content to proposal teams, responding to requests about creating, updating, and finalizing content and assisting users with locating content. 

Basic Qualifications: 
• Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Business, and a minimum of 5 years of  marketing, technical, or proposal writing experience. 
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, a writing sample will be requested during the interviewing process.
• Proficient in latest versions of MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint) as well as Adobe Acrobat. 

Preferred Qualifications: 
• Experience in new business development, including proposal preparation, is preferred. 
• Experience with proposal content library.
• Experience in large scale document management
• Familiarity with APA or GPO style guides preferred.
