Job Description

How would you use code to help the Washington Post cover the news? Our newsroom engineering team is looking for curious, creative and upbeat students from interesting backgrounds to work with us to help our newsroom report stories they couldn't reach without technology. Our team includes software engineers, data scientists, data visualization engineers and possibly you!

We do most of our software engineering in Node with Next.js and React. We do most of our data science work in Python. Our data visualizations are most often built with D3. We deploy our applications to Amazon Web Services. If you work with tools like these, you'll likely fit in with us technologically. If you haven't worked with all of these tools yet, that's okay! None of them is a requirement for applying.

The Post strives to provide its readers with high-quality, trustworthy news and information while constantly innovating. That mission is best served by a diverse, multi-generational workforce with varied life experiences and perspectives. All cultures and backgrounds are welcomed.

The innovation doesn't end in the Newsroom - dozens of teams power The Washington Post. We are now hiring the next innovator - how will you Impact Tomorrow?
