Responsibilities

As a Financial Management Analyst trainee, some of your responsibilities will include:
  • Participating in financial analysis and planning activities related to the financial community.
  • Drafting necessary guidelines and policies for preparation of regional and Central Office operating program budget plans.
  • Performing financial analysis and administrative functions for the Chief Financial Office nationwide operating programs including tasks related to the formulation, presentation and execution of GSA's annual budget.
  • Retrieving, analyzing, organizing, and distributing vendor and financial data and information to ensure complete, while under supervision.

The initial length of the job is one year but may become permanent.

GSA will verify the information through the DHS e-Verify automated system. Any identified discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of continued employment.
  • Undergo a background investigation and receive favorable adjudication. This position has been designated as a Public Trust Position.

The GS-7 salary range starts at $49,157.00 per year. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.

To qualify for the GS-7 level, you must meet one of the following:

A. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing financial transactions and participating in financial analysis and planning activities for an organization. Such experience must have included:
  • Gathering and reviewing a variety of narrative and/or statistical data to prepare reports;
  • Assisting with monitoring and tracking expenditures and revenue against authorized levels; and
  • Using automated financial tools and systems to analyze financial data OR
  • B. EDUCATION: One full year of graduate level education or a master's or higher degree, e.g., LL.B., J.D., LL.M., PhD., in a field that provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work of an Financial Management Analyst OR

    C. Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the baccalaureate level is fully qualifying at the GS-7 level. To claim SAA, submit documentation of one of the following:
  • Class standing -- You must be in the upper third of your graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses.
  • Grade-point average (rounded to one decimal point) of: (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum; OR (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in your major field or the required courses in your major field completed during your final 2 years of the curriculum.
  • Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society in one of the national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies .
  • D. A combination of specialized experience and graduate level education as described in "A" and "B" above that, when combined, fulfills the requirements.

You will not be considered for the position if you score below the cut score or fail to complete the assessment.
