Summary

This position is located in the National Institutes of Diabetes, and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), Division of Intramural Research (DIR), Office of the Scientific Director (OSD), Liver Diseases Branch (LDB) . The LDB is recruiting for a Staff Clinician II with background and experience in Hepatology and/or Gastroenterology.

Responsibilities

The individual in this position will (1) serve as an attending physician in Hepatology/Gastroenterology consultation service in the NIH Clinical Center, (2) is expected to conduct clinical research studies related to liver disease and (3) serve as fellowship program co-director. The recruitment will focus on early career physicians fully trained in gastroenterology and hepatology, who are also trained in various clinical research methodologies and have some
experience with scholarly publications.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have :
  • M.D. or D.O. (or equivalent degree) in the field of Hepatology and/or Gastroenterology.
  • Possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician to practice medicine in the United States.
  • Eligible to be credentialed for patient care by the National Institutes of Health, Clinical Center.

Degree : Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (external link) ; Association of American Medical Colleges (external link) ; Liaison Committee on Medical Education (external link) ; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association (external link) , or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained.

Degree from Foreign Medical School : A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (external link) , a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
Licensure : Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
