Summary
  • The Director of HR position is a hands-on role that balances HR Strategies and Manages the tactical plans that maintain an effective and customer service focused HR Team. The Director of HR will be a seasoned HR professional that manages the HR Team and works collaboratively with the SBU family of companies to ensure a fair and consistent approach of HR support that is aligned with company goals.

Responsibilities
  • Manages and coordinates HR programs including, but not limited to: Employment classification and pay, Onboarding, Benefits Administration, Employee and Labor Relations, Workplace Investigations and Training.
  • Partner with VP of HR on all initiatives and projects for the HR department.
  • Formulate and maintain partnerships across Chenega MIOS and their family of companies to ensure delivery of value-added services to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization.
  • Collaborate with Business Development at the MIOS and Company level to provide guidance and ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations as application to personnel policies and procedures for US government contractors.
  • Manage numerous collective bargaining agreements.
  • Manage Employee Relations: Conducts complex investigations and mitigates risk by ensuring compliance with EEO Policies, all Federal, State, local employment regulations as well as company policies. Recommends solutions and facilitates with implementation of a resolution that promotes fair employment practices.
  • Facilitates communication resolution of employee issues and concerns in conjunction with managers and employees by providing guidance and consultation regarding problem solving and dispute resolution to resolve internal conflict informally through appropriate conflict management and mediation techniques.
  • Perform trend and root cause analysis on Employee Relations issues and provide finding and recommendations for mitigating future occurrences and reducing the overall number of employee relations issues to the VP of HR.
  • Collaborates with the VP of HR in providing necessary supporting documentation and feedback for EEOC complaints and litigation requests to Corporate HR and /or Legal.
  • Collaborate and advise management on appropriate use of disciplinary action and provide guidance on employment actions to be taken.
  • Collaborates with Managers on the development and review of supporting documentation for all involuntary separations to ensure that policies were followed, where applicable
  • Conducts on-boarding and exit interviews, analyzes trends and provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide mentoring, leadership and develop capabilities for the HR team to ensure achievement of individual potential and goals.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, development and evaluation of the HR team members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with MIOS policies and applicable laws. Participate in hiring, training and performance evaluations.
  • Works with the HR Manager on continuous improvement of HR processes and procedures to include documenting all HR processes.
  • Develop and maintain metrics of HR task to ensure all departmental task are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform HR Special Projects as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Relevant Bachelor's degree (e.g., Human Resources/Business Administration)
  • 10 years of senior level, full life cycle experience in Human Resources. Experience to include:
  • SCA, DBA and Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Supporting a CONUS and OCONUS geographically dispersed workforce
  • 5 years direct Employee and Labor Relations experience to include conducting employee investigations.
  • 5 years' experience as a HR leader / Manager working for a company conducting U.S. Government contracting in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations.
  • Experience with developing metrics to analyze employee data utilizing Power-BI or similar systems preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong functional knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws including but not limited to Title VII, ADA, FMLA, Wage and Hour, EEOC
  • Strong conflict management skills
  • Must have the ability to apply sound judgment, decision-making and critical thinking
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with excellent follow-through and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to build and maintain relationships with people at all levels of the organization and across a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Must be a team-player and be willing to be hands-on with tactical duties with an ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Must have the ability to work nights, weekends and Holiday as required.
  • Travel up to 25% of time and sometimes with short notice
