IT Engineer, Senior AV Control Systems Programmer/Software Engineer Position #: 112155

The Senior AV Programming Engineer works within the Academic Technology Design and Solutions team that drives learning innovations through institutional-wide initiatives. S/he will work closely with Classroom Technology staff responsible for classroom design and deployment of technologies to program, engineer, and deploy AV systems in General Purpose Classrooms. The Senior AV Programming Engineer reviews requirements and assists with the design and development of programs for video conferencing rooms, and spaces which enable seamless integration with the audiovisual equipment in classrooms. In addition, the incumbent should be able to perform tests and pilots of viable technologies, troubleshoot existing AV programs to restore system functionality. The engineer will also be required to code, test, debug, document, and install new AV software and update existing ones currently used in Crestron control processors, touch panels, routers, audio DSPs (Crestron and others) and other peripherals to support instructional technology classrooms.

We are looking for a passionate, highly creative individual who is highly skilled with advanced experience in writing Crestron SIMPL code for A/V systems along with designing GUIs in VT Pro-e. The Senior AV Programming Engineer will work under the general supervision of the Manager of AV Systems and Classroom Support and will be a member of the Office of Academic Technology & Innovation at the Division of Information Technology.


Minimum qualifications
 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING

Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education/training and experience such as an Electrical Engineer, Software Engineer, Network Engineer or related technical field, including successful completion of Crestron programmer training.

AND

Minimum of 10 years experience programming Crestron AV systems

AND

Crestron Certified Master Programmer (MCP)

AND

Crestron DigitalMedia Certified Engineer (DMC-E)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

-Strong strategic thinker who can communicate innovative ideas and concepts to many audiences. Good written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills with ability to interact with all levels of employees.
-Strong organizational skills to effectively complete multiple projects with tight deadlines
-High level of energy, drive, enthusiasm, initiative, creativity and commitment. Ability to work in a busy environment with multiple project timelines and on own initiative, be self-motivated and flexible
-Committed to customer satisfaction: exceptional skills in collaboration, consultation, communication, customer support, data analysis, and time management.
-Ability to interpret Visio, CAD/VidCAD, and other system diagrams


Preferences
-Crestron Master Certified Programmer (Silver or better)
-Crestron Fusion Programmer (CTI-Fusion-P)
-Crestron DM-NVX and DM-NVX-N Certified
-Cisco certifications or IT and Enterprise Network experience.
-Extremely well versed in a Higher Education environment and classroom design methodologies
-Familiar with programming languages such as Java, Javascript, HTML5, Python, C, C++, C#
-Experience programming equipment such as Crestron DALI lighting systems, Biamp, Crown, JBL, Shure, Vaddio, Crown, QSC, Extron, and Lutron systems.
-Ability to create Visio, CAD/VidCAD, and other system diagrams

Physical demands: must be able to operate test equipment, machinery and AV equipment; use power tools; lift heavy loads up to 50 lbs.; work at heights using ladders and scaffolding; and drive a motor vehicle. May be required to work outside of normally scheduled working hours when needed (i.e. early mornings, late evenings, weekends).
