The Manager of Cardiovascular Diagnostic Services is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the activities of the Echocardiography Lab. This position oversees clinical competence amongst all cardiovascular sonographers throughout the department. This position requires the oversight of cardiovascular ultrasound procedures and related services provided to patients within the inpatient and outpatient settings. The manager provides oversight for operations, staff performance, quality assessment and improvement, accreditation and productivity.


Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED- High School diploma, Graduate of an approved school of Echocardiography (Required) And
Bachelor's Degree- Degree may be substituted with 4 years of addition management/supervisory experience (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
1 year-of management/supervisory experience (Required) And
5 years- prior cardiology experience or equivalent combination of training and experience (Required) And
3 years- full time dedicated pediatric experience in an echo laboratory directed by a board certified pediatric cardiologist (Required)

Required Certifications-

Basic Life Support - Required and

Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical/Cardiac Sonography (ARDMS), Registered in Pediatrics, or Registered by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer- Required

Required Skills/Knowledge
Demonstrates skills to work independently with all age groups and diverse cultures
Proficient in the use of Microsoft word, excel, and power point

Functional Accountabilities

Operational oversight
1. These functions below are intended to describe the essential duties of the person or persons assigned to the job. They are not intended as an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities:
a. Oversees daily operations of the Echocardiography Department, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix are scheduled to reflect the workload and meet the needs of the patient in conjunction with the Clinical Manager.
c. Conducts cardiovascular ultrasound under the direction of a physician
9. In conjunction with the Clinical Manager and Center Director, oversees the recruitment, training and orientation of new cardiac sonographers.
0. In conjunction with the Clinical Manager and Director of Echocardiography, organizes the educational experiences of cardiac sonographers.
3. Ensures all service contracts on echocardiography equipment are up to date and routine maintenance is performed regularly.
c. Evaluates new products and techniques as they develop.
d. Monitors and maintains echocardiography supplies and equipment. Orders and restocks standard supplies according to established par levels. Cleans and inspects equipment to ensure devices are in working order, notifying appropriate personnel of items in need of repair or replacement. Maintains neatness and organization of work and storage areas.
6. Contributes to development of unit/department programs. Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities, identifying and recommending opportunities to improve and/or enhance efficiency and quality of services. Attends staff meetings and participates in designated committees and special projects.
a. Develops and maintains professional knowledge and skills through participation in professional organizations and attendance at in-service and continuing education programs. Provides information and/or instruction in perfusion principles and techniques for medical, nursing and perfusion personnel within the hospital and from other institutions as requested.
c. In conjunction with infection control, develops and maintains the TEE process. Provides direct oversight of the disinfection process, tracking of probes, and adherence to infection control policies and procedures.
