The Radiology Information Systems (RIS) Administrator supports the RIS application and other various software applications within the Division of Radiology, throughout the health system, and as it will relate to external business partners. The scope of this position include software support, hardware support, interface support, project management, training, and problem resolution.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
Associate's Degree Imaging or Information Technology.- Required

BS Degree in Imaging, Management, or Information Technology is desired. (Desired)

Minimum Work Experience
1 year Healthcare setting with an associated understanding of clinical workflow and processes. Desktop IT support background, database management experience, project management experience preferred. (Preferred)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven track record of providing exceptional customer service.
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) preferred.

Required Licenses and Certifications
Certified Imaging Informatics Professional credentials required. (Preferred)
Microsoft certifications preferred. (Preferred)

Functional Accountabilities
Database and Software Applications

  • Maintain multiple databases to ensure they are up-to-date and accurate; plan and implement upgrades; accurately troubleshoot and resolve system issues to minimize downtime.


  • Ensure database information support effective clinical and revenue cycle workflow; perform system checks and daily quality assurance to ensure RIS and VR applications support daily clinical workflow.
  • Participate in planning and testing for ancillary software (HIS, billing software, etc.) application upgrades (partners with the Bear Institute or other interdisciplinary teams).
  • Work with hospital business partners (outside hospitals or practices) to ensure systems support clinical needs; partner with hospital-wide interdisciplinary teams to ensure accurate and consistent transmittal of information to and from the RIS.
  • Work with hospital IT to ensure disaster and recovery planning as it relates to clinical information in the RIS.
  • Work in conjunction with PACS administrator to support PACS application.

Desktop Support

  • Accurately troubleshoot and resolve systems issues (hardware, software, interface) to minimize downtime.


  • Participate in ON CALL pool with other radiology IT staff to ensure 24/7 operations of all radiology applications.
  • Display sense of urgency and responsiveness to end-user customers when resolving issues.

Software Training

  • Develop effective software training programs.


  • Provide consistent and effective end-user training.
