Job Announcement

Serves as an Assistant Director for the Operations and Maintenance Division. FMD operates and maintains over 200 county-owned facilities encompassing over 11 million square feet of space. Plans, coordinates, directs and manages this division which provides maintenance services; performs preventative maintenance and minor repair activities. Develops and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems, as well as to improve service quality and productivity. Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of equipment in order to accomplish desired objectives. Oversees 140+ employees in various trades including electricians, HVAC techs, general building maintenance workers, etc. and a budget of $15.5 million. Serves at the departments' representative at the Emergency Operations Center during activation of the Emergency team. Performs other related duties as required.

Note: The assigned functional areas of this position are operations and maintenance management and facilities management.

This position is considered essential personnel, on-call or alternate shifts may be necessary to complete work assignments.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in fields related to the assigned functional areas; plus five years of professional work experience within more than one of the assigned functional areas.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Six years of facilities management experience in the public or private sector.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a credit check, and driving records to the satisfaction of the employer.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Generally sedentary in nature. Incumbent will be required to visit job sites and county facilities. Must be mobile in order to visit site locations. Good communication and dexterity necessary to accomplish main functions of position. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Panel interview, may include a practical exercise.
