Job Announcement

Serves as part of the accounting team in the Accounting Division of the Circuit Court. Responsible for several of the following accounting functions: purchasing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, garnishments, cash receipts, unclaimed property, investments, and banking. Interprets professional accounting procedures and applies them to county functions. Cross-trained in all areas of accounting in order to perform backup duties as needed. Trains and guides employees as to how financial transactions, corrections, and adjustments should be performed in their divisions.

Note: The assigned functional areas of the position are general administrative support, accounting, finance, and bookkeeping.

Knowledge and understanding of the programs or activities of the unit served, as well as of the county and departmental administrative guides;
Position may require knowledge of basic principles and methods of a technical or professional field.

Math Skills
Basic math skills.

Word Processing/Typing
Intermediate skills in use of applicable Microsoft Office Word.

PC Skills
Intermediate skills in the use of applicable Microsoft Office Suite software;
Intermediate skills in the use of agency specific software applications.

Communication
Ability to communicate well through written and oral means.
Information Abilities
Ability to gather, integrate, and analyze simple data.

Interpersonal Abilities
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both external and internal contacts.

Purchasing and Accounting
Ability to perform data entry into Purchasing/Logistics Enterprise Resource Planning systems and/or Financial Enterprise Resource Planning systems in at least five functions.

Executive Assistance
Ability to maintain confidentiality and be sensitive to political issues.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and three years of experience providing administrative support in the assigned functional area(s).

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

Not applicable.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's degree.
  • Previous accounting/bookkeeping /financial experience or college course work in accounting or related field.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and establish and maintain effective relationships with staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications, i.e., Excel, Access, and Word.
  • Proficient in using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system such as SAP or similar for budget, finance, procurement, and human resources.


NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Duties are generally sedentary, performed in a normal office environment. Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 20 pounds and to input and retrieve data from a computer. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
