The Project Lead Facilities Safety and Compliance is responsible for Life Safety, Environment of Care Standards, Statement of Conditions, Hazardous Waste and Asbestos Program. This position will lead, direct, and implement the programs listed above. The position will provide support to the Construction, Facilities, Environmental Services Department and Off-Site properties. The position will consult with the following standards: Joint Commission, DC Department of Health, EPA, DCRA, OSHA, Architects, Engineers, Construction Managers, Space Management, International codes & standards, and other regulatory agencies. Responsible to maintain all policies and procedures for all relevant areas within facilities, train staff as appropriate, and ensure all staff are in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree In Engineering or other related field required. (Required)
Master's Degree In Business Administration, Hospital Administration, Public Administration or other
related regulatory field preferred. (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience
3 years Healthcare or other related industry experience required. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Expertise in the area of Joint Commission regulations including the requirements of Life Safety, Environment of Care Standards, Statement of Condition.
Strong knowledge of EPA, OSHA, DOH and DCRA and other regulatory agencies.
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Archibus, and CAD Excellent customer service skills, collaborator and educator.
Preferred: Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experienced in interpersonal communication.

Functional Accountabilities
Administration
  • Maintain, inspect, and update life safety program.
  • Manage, maintain and update the Statement of Conditions as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain and update environment of care.
Compliance
  • Review and ensure compliance with critical space and environmental testing.
  • Ensure full regulatory compliance and documentation with the Asbestos program.
  • Ensure full regulatory compliance and documentation for water management program.
  • Review and inspect compliance with hazardous waste regulations and documents.
  • Participate in pre-design review for regulatory compliance and best practices
Staff Relations
  • Conduct weekly rounds of the facility.
  • Record, report, and coach staff how to correct deficiencies.
Safety
  • Speak up when team members appear to exhibit unsafe behavior or performance
  • Continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation
  • Stop in the face of uncertainty and takes time to resolve the situation
  • Demonstrate accurate, clear and timely verbal and written communication
  • Actively promote safety for patients, families, visitors and co-workers
  • Attend carefully to important details - practicing Stop, Think, Act and Review in order to self-check behavior and performance

Project Support
  • Provide required documentation to the safety committee and ensure all pertinent documentation is readily available.
  • Partner with Vertical and Horizontal Transportation Systems (elevator contractor) to ensure proper documentation of annual testing certificates.
  • Fully develop the Archibus and CAD drawing platforms.
