Job Announcement

Responsible for voice systems and integration with enterprise infrastructure, applications and WEB platforms. Serves as a senior subject matter expert in DIT’s communications technologies practice center assisting in telecom analysts designing and implementing integrated communications platforms and messaging county-wide. Supports the county's day-to-day telephony unified communications services related to the operation, performance, and availability of the county's unified communications networks. Additionally, will be responsible for providing a high level of technical expertise to ensure the application of enterprise level telephony services aids in the achievement of organizational goal and objectives. Provides operational and technical assistance over the county's telephony service providers and associated contracts. Participates in strategic planning for advancing communications capabilities and integration with wireless and platform infrastructure. Coordinates with other divisions in DIT, primarily Data Network Communication, Platform Technologies division, the IT Service Desk and IVR platforms. Develops operational procedures, performance measures, project plans, and continually looks for improving operational efficiencies and cost. Interacts and communicates with all levels of county government, vendors, and regulatory agencies; stays abreast of telephone industry innovation and regulatory matters. Position is under the general supervision of the Enterprise Unified Communication Manager in the Infrastructure Division. May serve on county committees, make presentations, and perform other duties as assigned.

Employment Standards

Possession of an associate's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field; plus five years' network and/or telecommunications experience; or a bachelor's degree in such fields; plus three years' experience in network or telecommunications system design, analysis, installation, and troubleshooting, including some supervisory experience.

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

Demonstrated progressively responsible experience managing large multi-protocol, enterprise networks, with metropolitan area large-scale telecommunications voice and wireless on premise or other, including five years in a senior telephony engineering capacity. Intensive knowledge of communications industries and trends. Experience in enterprise communications network design and implementation using a wide variety of contemporary protocols to include broadband, voice mail messaging, IVR, CTI and VOIP, telephony network topologies, and Microsoft applications. Knowledge of FCC and other telephony industry regulatory matters.

Work is generally sedentary, performed in a normal office environment. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
