The Monitoring, Analytics, and Control Health (MACH1) team is seeking a senior leader to fill a balanced role that blends risk strategy development and product management activities. We are looking for a Senior Risk Manager to reimagine the status quo, find value-creation opportunities, and drive innovative, sustainable solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.

The definition of "customer" here is one thing that makes this role unique - our target customers are operations leaders, process owners, process managers, and strategists who need our help to amplify the value of a myriad of risk management activities. This puts the perfect candidate in a position to create game-changing value while building a network of diverse allies across the organization.

This role has two lanes of strategic leadership, both positioned to enable an individual contributor to show up as a collaborative force-multiplier:
  • Transformational Monitoring Strategy: Capital One's US-based Card products are evolving and growing rapidly. New offerings, new technology, and new regulator activity make up the three legs of this transformational stool. This senior manager will help drive and define the way in which we find hidden risk through innovative call, case, email, and chat monitoring.

  • Risk Product Management : The MACH1 team has three key products that support the changing landscape of stakeholder needs. All three products have a solid foundation built by a passionate team; all three could benefit from a seasoned product manager that can help devise a strategic roadmap, lead communication efforts, and support prioritization of new features.

To be great at both of these things, a great candidate will be:
  • Knowledgeable about Risk Management & Controls: When you bring expertise and experience to the arena, you are poised to transform the way the team enables well-managed business growth through risk management activities
  • Passionate about Call Listening: You know there is no substitute for the voice of the customer; by strategizing the way we hear this voice, you can position Quality Assurance as a true powerhouse of insights
  • Human Centered: By sourcing and synthesizing customer discovery efforts, you gain a deep understanding the value you can drive through actionable strategies and long term vision
  • Business Focused: with a clear, long-term vision of defined business outcomes, you will be equipped to define and report on KPIs for the products you support; using these KPIs, you will be able to adjust the roadmap as the data dictates
  • Technology Driven: An end-to-end understanding of your products and how they fit into the larger ecosystem enables you to anticipate impacts from changes in other parts of the business. You're passionate about using technology to enable the business to see around corners and find innovative insights.
  • Skilled in Change Management: The changing landscape of banking and your evolving set of stakeholders mean clear communication planning, change management activities, and intuitive functionality are key qualities for the ideal candidate. You can communicate complex ideas clearly regardless of your audience. The team knows their priorities and why they're doing what they're doing. You always can rally associates to work with you.
  • Intellectually Curious: You ask why, you explore, you're not afraid to blurt out your crazy idea or follow an email chain for weeks to find someone with an answer. You are comfortable with ambiguity and have a hunger to learn and a seek of new challenges. You're always learning while staying humble when the time comes to ask for help.
  • A Team Player. You enjoy working with diverse people and driving the team toward a common goal. You have the ability to put the team before yourself and establish long-lasting relationships.

Basic Qualifications:
  • At least 8 years of program or project leadership experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in product management
  • At least 3 years of experience in risk management or strategy development

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • 10+ years of program or project leadership experience
  • 5+ years of experience in product management
  • 5+ years of experience in risk management and strategy development
  • Experience working with a Governance, Risk Management & Compliance system (eg, PRIME)
  • Experience developing strategies for Tableau Reporting
  • Experience developing strategies for Sharepoint workflow tools
