Description

The purpose of this position is to provide programmatic and technological support for programs, projects, initiatives, and events undertaken by the Academic Affairs and Research Education (AARE) unit. This position serves to help meet the objectives of the Association’s strategic initiatives pertaining to higher education data collection in communication sciences and disorders, the educational and research preparation of audiologists, speech language pathologists, and speech-language and hearing scientists; the ongoing career support of faculty – researchers; and efforts to enhance awareness of the association’s educational initiatives and resources.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage the operational planning and implementation for academic-researcher career development programs including timeline management, application and review process, stakeholder communications, registration, program evaluation, reports, resource development, and event logistics.
  2. Manage the development, functionality, and processes for deploying and administering the CSD Education Survey and EdFind and publication of related reports.
  3. Serve as technical administrator to build, test and troubleshoot award competition templates and standard reports using established platforms.
  4. Manage the development, functionality and processes for the unit’s intranet sites.
  5. Coordinate, develop and update the unit’s Webpages and advise on best practices.
  6. Develop and implement standard operating procedures and process improvements to enhance and innovate the unit’s work.
  7. Develop and update communications (web, articles, newsletters, email broadcasts, ASHA Community discussion groups and social media) for programs and events.
  8. Provide technical assistance to members of the academic and research communities and national office staff regarding programs, activities and resources implemented by the Unit.  Track inquiries and evaluate sufficiency of existing informational resources based upon inquiry trends and advise about needed resources.
  9. Assist with information gathering and develop and maintain databases to organize and use information in support of the work of the unit.
  10. Serve on national office teams to implement initiatives pertinent to the Unit as part of the association’s strategic plan.
  11. Stay informed about current trends and resources pertaining to academic, clinical and research education, graduate/undergraduate education, funding opportunities, and faculty – researcher careers in communication sciences and disorders in order to respond to general inquiries and appropriately refer to available resources.

Qualifications

Knowledge Typically Acquired Through

  • BA/BS degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience in program management working in a professional setting
  • Experience communicating with higher education faculty - researchers, members of professional associations, and/or students preferred

Scope and Depth of Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Demonstrated program management abilities and knowledge of project management principles
  • Demonstrated advanced skills utilizing current day software applications and platforms
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; independently compose correspondence and technical documents
  • Demonstrated advanced use of technology to organize and execute work (e.g., Office 365, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, netFORUM, databases, electronic discussion boards, Internet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom or other video meeting applications, Google Docs)
