The Universities at Shady Grove’s (USG) mission is “To support and expand pathways  to affordable, high-quality public higher education that meet the distinctive needs of the  region and are designed to support workforce and economic development in the state; to  achieve these goals through partnerships and collaborations with academic, business,  public sector and community organizations that promote student success, high academic  achievement and professional advancement.” USG’s Center for Student Engagement  and Financial Resources, in collaboration with our nine university partners, offers  programming and services designed to support undergraduate and graduate students in  the 80 plus programs offered on campus and create a thriving student experience at the  Universities at Shady Grove. The Center for Student Engagement and Financial  Resources is seeking to fill the Coordinator position. The Coordinator serves many  functions including advising students, management of student organizations,  implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives, and a variety of student life activities  programming and promotion. This position may require some evening and weekend work. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

∙ Bachelor’s Degree 

Experience 

∙ 3-5 years of student services and/or student affairs experience.

Preferences:

∙ Master’s degree preferred

∙ Experience in the areas of financial aid, advising or student life. ∙ Experience working with or managing student organizations.

∙ Bilingual skills

Knowledge and experience regarding:

∙ Policies, practices, and procedures involved with a student service operation in a  university environment.

∙ Experience creating, developing, and executing an event or program from start to  finish

∙ Evidence of the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment

∙ Excellent written skills and attention to details

∙ Ability to be diplomatic, composed, and proactive in varied interactions ∙ Professional demeanor

∙ Ability to work independently and as a team member

∙ Commitment to high quality and efficient customer service to students, faculty,  staff and partners

∙ Experience developing programming for and working with diverse individuals,  cultures and ethnic groups

∙ Comfort with student service management systems and general office  technology required

∙ Candidates must be flexible, creative, energetic, well-organized, and task oriented.

Physical Demands

Professional office environment. Typical work day requires several hours of sitting,  talking and computer based work. Physical activities include set up and break down of  events, and standing for long periods of time. This position requires working some  evenings and weekends as needed.
