The primary function of the IT Specialist III is working within Special Access Programs (SAPs) supporting Department of Defense (DOD), Headquarters United States Air Force. The position will provide "day-to-day" direct support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Special Access Program (SAP) networks.

  • Maintain network and standalone servers, workstations, network access, Security Monitoring Systems, and system documentation as required
  • Analyze and troubleshoot system anomalies to ensure optimum performance
  • Prepare system for operational use and support operational tests
  • Identify AIS vulnerabilities and implement countermeasures
  • Ensure AIS and network nodes are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with security policies and practices
  • Perform VTC System administration, scheduling, and configuration as needed
  • Provide networks direct client support
  • Perform account creations, modifications, and deletions
  • Provide direct multi-level help desk support and troubleshooting of all hardware and software
  • Perform hardware/software system configuration, upgrades, and modifications
  • Provide desktop and laptop configuration and support
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor's degree OR
  • High school diploma or GED and 4+ years of information technology or a related field
  • 8-10 years of related IT experience is required
  • Must meet position and certification requirements outlined in DOD Directive 8570.01-M for Information Assurance Technician Level 2
  • Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information is required
  • Willingness to submit to a Counterintelligence polygraph is required
  • Current top secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2008/2012/ 2016 Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server 2010/2013/2016, and Microsoft Windows 7/10 operating systems (OS) administration and associated requirements
  • Working knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies and data backup technologies, including communication security (COMSEC) integration
  • Must have the ability to work in a dynamic environment and effectively interact with numerous DOD, military, civilian, and contractor personnel and industry partners
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) productivity software
  • Possess a high degree of originality, creativity, and initiative requiring minimal supervision
