The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will position the organization as a primary advocate for diversity and inclusivity within academic nursing. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leads the development of diversity and inclusion programs and resources.
  • Directs and develop project work plans, schedules, and budgets. Monitor and control schedules and budgets. Comply with all grant reporting requirements, when applicable.
  • Conducts presentations on diversity, equity, and inclusion including holistic review workshops and other related topics.
  • Develops initiatives to support and develop climate surveys, a cultural infused curriculum, and inclusive learning environments in higher education.
  • Drafts, research, and prepare assessment tools, reports, articles, presentation, and other materials related to diversity, equity, and inclusion that are consistent with the diversity strategic framework.
  • Responsible for drafting and editing communications products including reports, peer-reviewed publications, op-eds, and issue briefs to disseminate the results of projects and research studies. 
  • Develop prototypes of new products (e.g., dashboards, toolkits, scorecards), and manage pilot projects to test and refine those products.
  • Keeps abreast of best practices and current trends in diversity and inclusion and brings that knowledge to inform program and policy development work.

Director Requirements and Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates must have a Master’s degree in Nursing or a related field.  A higher-level degree in nursing or education is preferred.  Requires at least 10 years of related work experience, 3 years as a supervisor, preferably in an education association.
  • Knowledge of diversity and inclusion issues, health disparities, and higher education.
  • Strong program leadership skills, including experience managing budgets.  Proposal/grant writing experience.
  • Experience working in a university environment (desired).
  • Has a track record of engaging with a diverse set of stakeholders and be committed to working collaboratively with other senior colleagues to craft a common vision and direction.
  • Must be highly organized, detail oriented, flexible and collaborative, and have good interpersonal skills.  Position requires problem solving skills and basic project management.  Excellent ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and specialized software programs as necessary. 
  • Moderate travel may be required for this position.
