Risk Manager- Risk Intelligence and Reporting

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is seeking a Risk Manager to join Capital One's ERM - Risk Intelligence and Reporting team. The Risk Manager will have the opportunity to apply their risk management and analytical skills to some of our highest profile Risk Management initiatives, including implementing solutions to ensure Capital One's continued stability and success.

The Risk Manager will play a key role in the ongoing management of our Enterprise Control Standard and our (developing) Key Indicator Standard, including application of our control management, evaluation and challenge methodology by the first and second lines. This role is also responsible for contributing to the development of strategic enhancements to other risk management processes. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated risk professional with excellent analytical, process improvement, and communication skills. The Risk Manager will have exposure across lines of business and the opportunity to work with leadership to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One.

Responsibilities:
  • Relationship manager to several of our Divisions on our Control Standard, providing consult and knowledge sharing to ensure consistent understanding, implementation and application of the methodologies (will include Key Indicator Standard, once in place)
  • Drive ongoing adherence to our Independent Risk Management (IRM) Control Challenge methodology, and support IRM Groups by providing guidance and tools
  • Manage the Primary IRM Designee process, partnering with other IRM Groups to establish IRM oversight on controls, as well as provide transparency to impacted IRM Groups
  • Monitor adherence of IRM Control Challenge - conduct sampling on completed IRM Control Challenges, to identify adherence concerns as well as potential training or methodology needs
  • Monitor progress, and support reporting and analysis of IRM Control Challenge
  • Collaborate internally and with our risk community (e.g. IRM groups, business risk offices, front line process owners) to mature our risk practice methodologies and advance learning
  • Develop practical solutions to improve risk management processes using data and technology
  • Participate in and execute other special projects for the team on a periodic basis
  • Through Q3 2021, this role will support our annual Lines of Defense (LOD) Assessment by
    • Assisting in setting focus of the assessment (e.g. reviewing business issues, or Audit findings, changes in the business, process inventories)
    • Identifying potential deviations through business process and documentation reviews with stakeholders, and assist reporting on the outcomes of the review


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years of Risk Management experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of experience in process management
  • At least 3 years of experience in responding to and interacting with internal audit and/or regulatory agencies
  • Strong subject matter expertise in controls development, controls management, controls testing, and reporting activities
  • Experience working in an iterative, highly collaborative environment
  • Experience working in the financial services industry
  • Experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance software tools
