Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Director of Quality who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

In this role you will direct the Quality Management and Performance Improvement activities to measurably enhance the quality, process and cost effectiveness of patient and customer services rendered. This position will ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting standards. Coordinates and participates in orientation, in services and continuing education programs. Directs Risk Management program in maintaining integration with quality and performance improvement. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team of the Hospital, the Director of Quality and Risk Management contributes to the development of Financial and Operational Strategy, as well as, overall policy for the Hospital. This person assists in the operations of the Hospital by rotating as Administrator on Call, and may be asked to further assist in the Administrators absence. This person represents the hospital and its programs in selected activities. As a member of the Health System, participates in activities that provide for continuity of services and standardization of systems across entities and improves system growth and efficiency. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Plans, organizes, directs and supervises the Department of Quality and Risk Management activities.
2. Is consistently responsible for sharing information about the organizations initiatives and efforts to ensure effective operations, effective work relationships and informed and engaged employees.
3. Effectively manages the financial performance of the department in accordance with the strategic plan, mission, goals and values of the organization.
4. Provides leadership and direction in ensuring ongoing compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements.
5. Designs, implements and monitors the quality and risk management plans and prepares quarterly and annual reports for the Board of Directors
6. Provides oversight for the infection control activities and monitoring Education/Training

Qualifications include:
• Master's degree required -- Healthcare Administration, Health Systems, Public Health,
Nursing, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a relevant field
• Registered Nurse (RN)/Clinical degree preferred
• A minimum of 10 years of Lean Six Sigma and FOCUS PDCA project experience required
• 5 years progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting required
• ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt certification is required
• CPHQ certification preferred
• Minimum of five years in a Lean Six Sigma Transformation working environment required
• Healthcare and internal consulting experience in acute care and population health settings,
including but not limited to home health and physical rehabilitation, required.
• Demonstrated experience managing complex cross-functional projects
• Ability to monitor, analyze and present performance data and design and implement process
related action plans to improve performance or adherence to standards or regulations
• Proven experience facilitating Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Process Mapping, 5S
workshops, and Root Cause Analysis sessions required
• Experience teaching healthcare Lean Six Sigma principles required

Work Schedule:

• Must have advanced leadership skills with demonstrated ability to successfully serve as a
coach and mentor to Green Belts
•Advanced level competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint and Visio
• Experience utilizing statistical analysis software such as Minitab required
•Experience with the Malcolm Baldrige framework in a healthcare setting required.
Baldrige Examiner training preferred
•Experience working and coaching in a Studer and TeamSTEPPS embraced environment
• Experience with publications in academic journals required
•Strong customer service and organizational skills.

Quality Services encompasses the Pt Safety/Risk Management and Infection Prevention departments.

This role requires a systems-minded approach to the clinical, operational, and financial implications of quality outcomes in value-based programs.
