Brand Creative Director

Capital One is seeking a Creative Director to join its Brand Creative team, responsible for supporting a variety of customer segments and products across various channels. This role will manage people who deliver key marketing assets that drive business results and stay true to the Capital One Brand.

We're looking for a leader that has intimate knowledge of industry best practices and a strong digital & traditional background. The ability to quickly identify, address and incorporate emerging trends into strategic development are essential, as well as an ability to proactively overcome adversity and obstacles. The ideal candidate is an effective team leader with the ability to comfortably present comprehensive concepts to leadership and decision makers.

This candidate should be able to showcase previous experience via a portfolio or site demonstrating capabilities for work on large, integrated marketing campaigns.

Your responsibilities:
  • Contribute to preliminary strategy formation for each new project
  • Review and approve new creative project requests
  • Craft timeline estimates and work with project management resources on staffing
    for creative projects
  • Lead team to identify and solve marketing problems from a creative perspective
  • Recommend creative testing where appropriate
  • Manage a broad portfolio of work and ensure the team delivers quality work on Brand and on time
  • Organize and lead creative reviews & presentations as needed
  • Help evolve the team's skills and capabilities, with a constant eye on process improvements
  • Manage creative talent (Art Directors, Graphic Designers or Copywriters) including a mix of full-time associates, contractors and agencies
  • Empower and inspire full-time associates and help them develop in their careers
  • Accommodate and be comfortable with travel for in-person meetings as necessary (approximately 10% of the time), generally between Richmond and McLean, VA and only when safe


Basic qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of experience leading a creative team


Preferred qualifications
  • At least 1 year of experience in the financial (or some other highly-regulated) industry
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Creative Director
  • At least 5 years of direct response or direct marketing campaign experience at an advertising agency, studio agency or corporate in-house creative team
