Summary

The U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration (EDA) plays a critical role in facilitating regional economic development efforts in communities across the nation. EDA is seeking quality job applicants under special hiring authority provided under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. These positions are located in our Headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, improve and enhance existing social media strategy and engagement efforts and identify and plan stakeholder engagement to new groups and audiences.
  • Develop monthly reports on emerging social media trends that will be submitted to the management and executive teams.
  • Design build and lead cross-functional social media campaigns including scope, parameters, key performance indicators, measurement, and evaluations.
  • Monitor EDA's social media accounts and offer constructive interaction with users.
  • Determine relevant key performance indicators and devise a strategy for regularly reporting against them.
  • Identify opportunities to influence public perception through audience engagement and publicly speaking about the brand's social media strategy.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Americorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal Service. Experience for this position includes:
  • Overseeing day-to-day social campaign management to create consistent and meaningful content on all social media platforms, including writing and editing social media posts, improving customer engagement, and promoting social media campaigns.
  • Assessing, improving and enhancing existing social media strategies and engagement efforts to identify and plan stakeholder engagement to new groups and audiences.
  • Utilizing a wide range of electronic communication techniques across the Internet, to include Web sites and social media outlets, as well as the benefits and limitations of each means of communication.

Additional information

Background Investigation: This position is designated as Non-sensitive/Low Risk and requires that a background investigation be conducted and favorably adjudicated in order to establish security eligibility.

Please note this position is being filled under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Employees will be hired under EDA's CARES Hiring Authority as a Schedule A employee under the Excepted Service for a period not-to-exceed two (2) years.

The salary is contingent upon the official duty location which an employee is hired for and will be determined based upon individual selections.
