Summary

The purpose of this position is to support the Treasury Department's role as the Sector Specific Agency for Financial Services, under Presidential Policy Directive 21, to strengthen the security and resilience of its critical infrastructure against both physical and cyber threats. The office is responsible for carrying out the Treasury Department role in promoting the IT (cyber) security, resilience and protection of the financial services sectors critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

-Conduct risk assessment programs to identify areas of potential vulnerability in operating systems and interdependencies used throughout the financial services sector.

-Analyze findings and develops long-range options for security systems that minimize risks, mitigates vulnerabilities, prevents cyber security incidents, and helps insure systems reliability.

-Provide technical cybersecurity and specific high-value critical infrastructure expertise to the design, development, and implementation of information security policies and procedures as to the Department's positions on protecting such infrastructures, technical advice on approaches to sector-specific protective approaches and contributions of Administration review of policy matters on matters regarding cyber and critical infrastructure protection (i.e., also including physical protection when appropriate).

-Evaluate the effectiveness of the Department's cyber security critical infrastructure programs for the financial services sector.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the GS-13: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, public or other private sectors. Specialized experience for this position is defined as proven proficiency and supportable (as evidenced in the resume) hands-on experience includes the following:
-Identifying cybersecurity threats; AND
-Providing technical guidance on cybersecurity matters; AND
-Interpreting cybersecurity policy; AND
-Working on IT related projects; AND
-Developing risk assessment criteria to be used for identifying cyber security threats.


Specialized experience for the GS-12: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, public or other private sectors. Specialized experience for this position is defined as proven proficiency and supportable (as evidenced in the resume) hands-on experience includes the following:
-Providing technical guidance on cybersecurity matters; AND
-Interpreting cybersecurity policy; AND
-Working on IT related projects; AND
-Assisting with the development of risk assessment criteria to be used for identifying cyber security threats.


In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
