Director of Business Development Location US-VA-McLean Posted Date 3 months ago (11/4/2020 8:19 PM) Job Code DJOB Clearance Required Not Required Position Summary Avineon is searching for an established Director of Business Development. A successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of success in identifying, qualifying, and closing business opportunities within the federal government, primarily focusing on digital transformation, enterprise solutions, application development and automation, data services, and geospatial intelligence. The primary focus of this position will be on the identification, development, qualification, and capture of large, strategic opportunities valued between $10M and $100M+. The Director of Business Development will work closely with the Vice President of Growth Operations to establish an overall account strategy and tactical plan focused on positioning and capturing new business opportunities and establishing Avineon as a preferred solutions partner. Duties & Responsibilities Identify, qualify, and close opportunities. The Director of Business Development's primary focus is to build and execute a robust pipeline of opportunities that align with the federal division's strategic vision for growth within the US government marketplace. Create, manage, and implement go-to-market plans (to articulate and generate consensus for strategic vision, action plan, competitive intelligence, investments, business case, etc.) within the targeted agency markets. Develop and present milestone briefings to senior management in support of investing in and pursuing strategic opportunities. Engage customers in identifying and shaping opportunities. This includes active communication of filtered, actionable intelligence back to corporate, business development, and functional group staff. Actively market the Avineon brand, establish customer expectations, and shape opportunities by creating white papers, responding to RFIs, and conducting similar business development activities. The Director of Business Development will conceptualize the need, organize the correct company participants, and lead the collaboration to completion. Support the capture and proposal teams to maintain continuity across the BD lifecycle, therefore enhancing our ability to win as opportunities pass from qualification into capture and then proposal. Education - Experience & Skills Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and an entrepreneurial spirit 10 to 15 years of successful business development (sales, marketing, capture, proposal, etc.) activities, especially in digital transformation, enterprise solutions, application development and automation, data services and geospatial intelligence markets with customers. A strong network of customer contacts and a familiarity with major federal programs and upcoming initiatives The candidate should have a working knowledge of the Federal and Defense procurement process and a demonstrated proficiency with government strategy and acquisition plans. Demonstrated ability to execute business development functions with minimal supervision. Effective leader/participant in formal presentations to clients and potential teaming partners, proven record of accomplishment in building winning teams, and experience successfully negotiating with potential team members concerning roles and participation. Detailed insight into current and future federal government programs. Formal training in both the federal business development and capture process is strongly desired.
