Position Summary The position is responsible for serving as the designated staff executive and managing all aspects of assigned high revenue/high need groups within the Chemical Products and Technology (CPT) division, including directing administrative, technical, advocacy, and planning services. The position works closely with key internal and external stakeholders and coordinates with the Senior Director, Product Groups and CPT Operations on key cross-cutting policy issues. The position reports directly to the Vice President of CPT. Major Duties and Responsibilities Leads groups/committees/task groups of member company representatives in building consensus relative to the development and implementation of strategic goals and objectives. Directs development, implementation and accomplishment of annual priorities for assigned CPT groups, including identifying new programs and initiatives to meet group needs. Implements appropriate governance structures and requirements (eg, group organizational structure, voting and operational procedures) consistent with American Chemistry Council (ACC) policy and association management best practices. Directs development and management of annual budget and long-term financial plans for assigned groups, including development of appropriate dues/cost allocations that are consistent with ACC anti-trust and competitiveness policies, tracking of revenue and expenses, providing financial reports to members, recommending appropriate consultants, preparing requests for proposals, managing of contract bids/negotiation, and serving as project/contract manager. Monitors and maintains a full understanding of regulations, legislation and market activities affecting or potentially affecting assigned groups as well as advises and administers regulatory compliance. Provides issue expertise and strategic direction on priority issues, including advising and assisting groups in the development of advocacy positions, strategies and tactics and providing antitrust counseling, in consultation with ACC legal counsel. Prepares technical and policy materials to support assigned group's goals and objectives and manages the development of education and communication vehicles, such as press releases, white papers, brochures and product stewardship and scientific publications. Serves as spokesperson and issue expert for assigned groups and select chemical product/sector issues, including serving as the high-level relationship manager for purposes of managing issues, as needed, with external organizations and consultants for assigned CPT groups. Represents assigned groups, CPT and ACC before a broad range of outside stakeholders, including serving as the lead sector representative with relevant external organizations. Organizes coalitions and educational forums for key audiences including industry, government, value-chain and academia to support assigned groups. Advises and assist groups in funding and implementation of research programs, including providing technical assistance in protocol development, monitoring, auditing, and communication of results, in accordance with relevant ACC policies and procedures. Works in conjunction with internal ACC issue teams and support functions (eg, Finance, Information Technology, Legal, Communications, Regulatory & Technical Affairs, State and Federal Affairs, and Political Mobilization) to ensure optimal customer service and satisfaction for assigned CPT groups. Develops and implements annual business development plan for increasing the membership of assigned groups and develops/maintains key external relationships for purposes of growing membership of assigned groups. Directs the daily work activities of assigned staff (if applicable), in partnership with Senior Director colleague(s), including establishing performance objectives, conducting performance reviews, and facilitating employee development. Supports overall CPT business development opportunities, including the identification, marketing and development of new business opportunities. Attends relevant industry conferences, forums, roundtables, etc, as deemed appropriate by the Vice President of CPT, for networking purposes. Cultivates, builds and maintains ally relationships with external organizations. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements Required Bachelor's degree in relevant field (eg, public policy, business management). 10 years project/issue management experience. Five years advocacy or related experience with a business, trade, political or policy advocacy organization. Demonstrated knowledge of chemical or related industry. Strong written and oral communications skills, as well as the ability to give both internal and external presentations. Ability to cultivate and manage high quality stakeholder relationships. Ability to work independently on a variety of complex matters simultaneously, including ability to prioritize and manage multiple issues, projects, tasks, and information/requests. Ability to design and implement strategy, direction and action plans. Expertise as a senior-level leader with demonstrated skills in leading, coaching and mentoring staff. Ability to build consensus, work in a team environment, and coordinate across groups within a large organization. Demonstrated organizational as well as budget planning and management skills. Preferred MS, MBA, JD or related advanced degree. Association, consulting firm, law firm or government experience. Demonstrated experience working in a difficult/controversial industry, product or sector. Active affiliation with relevant chemical industry sector groups. PI133754428
