Responsibilities

Provide direction and guidance to WG-3566-02 Housekeeping Aids in accomplishing sanitation cleaning assignments in various clinical and administrative, which include sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, burnishing, scrubbing floors, trash removal, dusting, and polishing.

Works along side other employees and is responsible for guiding the pace, assigning teams members specific task to accomplish and the incumbent is responsible checking work while in process and when the task(s) are completed to ensure sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines are met.

Provide Housekeeping Aid Supervisor the status and progress of work, causes of work delays and personnel problems and provide input for performance appraisal and ratings.

Incumbent must be able operate and train other to utilize equipment e.g., battery operated scrubbers, burnishers and other industrial machines, vacuum cleaners and other equipment, tools and supplies used in cleaning.

Incumbent must understand and follow special cleaning procedures required in such areas as operating room, ICY/CCU, isolation rooms, terminal cleaning, cleaning of patient units when discharged, SCI and any other areas which dictates special care.

Responsible for insuring that all equipment is maintained in the proper manner, including daily or as needed cleaning; reporting any malfunctions to his/her supervisor and supply complete information needed to submit work orders as needed.

Responsible for ensuring that all necessary supplies and equipment are available at the start of each tour and cleaned and returned to the proper storage areas prior to close of business.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds. Must be able to climb ladders, walk constantly and sometimes perform light to moderate bending and stooping. During normal day to day operations, individual will be required to perform simple grasping, fine hand manipulation, reaching above shoulder height. Position routinely requires that individual operate vehicles, powered equipment and push or pull soiled and clean laundry carts to and from loading docks to various locations within the medical center.

Working Conditions: Workis normally performed inside where there is ample light, heat and/or ventilation. Temperatures vary from hot in the summer to cold in the winter when traveling between buildings. Incumbent is intermittently exposed to excess humidity, chemicals and solvents, fumes, dust and noise. May perform some duties of position on patient wards, within storage areas on facility grounds, or within sub­basement locations. Individual is exposed to possible contagion's from the handling of patient personal clothing/effects and in performance of sanitation procedures. Is subject to cuts, scrapes, bumps, bruises, slips, falls and other injuries in the performance of required duties. Also exposed to disagreeable odors in the accomplishment of duties.
