Summary

This is an Internship position in the Pathways Program. This is an Excepted Service appointment. The Pathways Internship Program offers candidates the opportunity to gain valuable on-the-job training and experience related to the HR career field. Interns may work full-time or part-time schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Performs entry level HR support assignments and technical tasks in HR functions such as recruitment and placement, classification and position management, labor relations, management employee relations, HR automated systems, etc.
  • Coordinates actions with other offices, such as serviced organizations, payroll offices, and other HR offices in receiving the information requested, ensuring accuracy of data, etc
  • Receives basic customer support inquiries telephonically and/or electronically.
  • Performs miscellaneous office automation work such as word processing and office automation software to produce documents, correspondence, forms, reports, etc.

Qualifications

Applicants must be current students or enrolled for Fall 2021 pursuing a degree in HR or related field at a qualifying educational institution. To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

1) A 2-year or 4-year college or university

Minimum Qualifications for the GS-599-03:
Completion of one academic year of post-high school study.

Minimum Qualifications for the GS-599-04:
Completion of two academic years of post-high school study or associate's degree.

Background Investigation: All selectees will be subject to a personnel security investigation which must be favorably adjudicated for occupancy of a sensitive position and/or access to classified information. If you are selected for a critical/special sensitive position, you will be subject to a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI). You must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance eligibility at the Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) level. You will be subject to a random counterintelligence scope polygraph.

Drug Testing: If you are given access to classified information, you will be subject to random drug testing. If you are selected for a critical/special sensitive position, you will be placed in a drug testing designated position. You must pass a drug test before your assignment to such a position and you will be subject to random drug testing subsequent to your assignment.

Travel: Some travel is required. Travel is typically local; however, some overnight travel may be required.

How You Will Be Evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

If you meet the minimum qualifications, your experience, education and training will be rated using an online self-assessment questionnaire based on the competencies and/or knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below. You will receive a score ranging from 70-100 based on your responses. Your entire application package will then be reviewed. The final determination will be based on all the information provided in your application package. If you are best qualified, you may be referred to the hiring manager for consideration and may be called for an interview.
